Need help solving a problem
So I have an agile 7.2 big belt. My problem is my esc keeps shutting off during continous flips or inverted tail stand full punch outs.
Esc is a castle 160 with fan three months old no wrecks. The motor is a scorpion 4025 560. Castle is set to 560kv, 10 pole motor, with 5 degrees timing 8kz. I've tried the castle gov, icon gov, no gov flat throttle curve. Keep getting same thing. 2-3 stationary flips or a inverted tail stand full negative punch out esc cuts out and reboots have to auto down depending on height rpms may come back before I finish auto. If not I can take back off all is good. Flys fine even when doing hard pitch pumps.
Castle log isn't showing anything funny amps are averaging 80 amps with 150 spikes on huge demands. Temps on esc never go above 120. Motor is hot but nothing out of normal for scorpion. I have been thru all wiring on heli looking for chafed wires that might cause a short. I'm at a loss as to what's going on. Normal sport flying its fine and will fly whole pack without an issue. Any help or suggestions would be aporeciated.

Basic setup questions...

Did you program the CC ESC for helicopter mode, or is it still running its factory default settings?

If you haven't already done so, set the CURRENT LIMIT setting to either "Insensitive" or "Disabled".

Any chance you can post the settings for the ESC?

Most obvious question, under the cutoffs tab in Castle Link do you have Current Limiting set to insensitive?

Yes esc is set in heli mode with set rpm. But was set also in multirotor mode when I was trying the ICON gov. (same problem both ways. Also current limit is set to insensitive.

Yes all cutoffs are set to 3.0voltz

Here is the log file but it won't let me upload the dat file for the castle settings if you would like them drop me an email address I can send the file.

here are screen shots of the three main castle pages for esc settings

and sorry I lied the current limiting is set to normal 240A but in all my castle logs I have never drawn more than 159amps so figured that should be safe at 240.

the 2nd pic clearly shows current limiting at normal.

I'd try setting it to insensitive or off as others have suggested.
if it ain't broke, break it.

Do you remember what you did about 20 seconds before switching to IU2 (about 178 seconds into the log)? That seemed to be the initiator of the shutdown that occurred at about 209 seconds into the log. From that point (178 sec) until shutdown (209) power out and amps started to ramp up. The switch to IU2 at 196 seconds just increased the ramp rate. Amps still showed to be well below a current limit of 240 amps though. The strange thing about the log is it looks like you hit throttle hold, throttle signal went to 1.002ms which is your zero throttle input and then went back to 1.715ms which by the log looks like IU2. If governor is set to 100% for IU2 I would expect the input signal to be 1.900ms.

For helicopter use, Castle says to set the Current Limit to either insensitive or to disable it, to stop random shutdowns due to the nature of current requirements in electric helis. That has pretty much always been their recommendation.-----

You may want to try insensitive first. Got a shutdown on a Castle Ice 100 this afternoon when I pulled 186 amps by the log data doing a hard full collective inverted punchout. Insensitive setting on this esc is 175 amps. This heli will flip in place all day long.

Change your current limiting to insensitive or disabled under your cutoffs tab. All other settings look good. If this problem continues send it in to Castle to be checked out.

What strikes me as off from looking at the log, is that when it cut out the throttle input command dropped to about 1000 pwm. That should be directly the true throttle input that the ESC is getting from the transmitter. I would check for loose leads or something in the transmitter.

Went off to do something after my last post and got to thinking about what littleman wrote, he may be on to something. I had an over-current shutdown last weekend with an Ice 100. Did a full negative inverted punchout that registered 186 amps in the log. Went back and re-checked jhartsock3s log, there is no vertical line at SD point like in my log with reason for when you hover the mouse on the line. Similar to low voltage shutoff point red horizontal line in jhartsock3 log. Both logs are very similar though with throttle signal.

My ESC was also beeping the three beep error message when I got to it.
