DX18 and GV1 Governor setup
Hi all,

I'm setting up muy new Spektrum DX18 with my old Futaba GV1 (I know, old tech...). Have already assigned the GV! on/off switch (back left) and works well when I check its function. However, the Throttle Hold Switch (Back right) will NOT turn off the governor when its switch is in the ON position. This is of course a no-go.

Reading through many of the forums, there is one sub-optimal solution: Turn on the "stick-switch" on the GV1. I have tried this and it no DOES turn off the GV1 when the TH switch is activated, whether or not the GV1 is ON or OFF. Great right? What i don't like about this is, is that at less than 15% throttle, the GV1 will turn off, relying on the throttle curve setup. This also causes a problem at spool-up since it will get to the RPM very quickly, unless I bring the S1 GV1 setting to say 1000rpm. I just don't like it. With the old Futaba 8U, the radio "knew" that when Throttle Hold was activated, it had to turn off the Governor.

Is there a way on the DX18 so that the Throttle Hold Switch will "override" the Governor switch (so I dont have to use the "stick switch" on the GV1)? I have read some on the "default" governor channels on Spektrum radios (Aux2 I think). Maybe if the GVI ON/OFF is in the AUX2 channel, it will turn-OFF when the Throttle Hold is operated? Other potential solutions? A radio this advanced must have a way...

Thanks again for your help?

Slds,
Franz

RTFM: http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/gv-1-manual.pdf
Then, look at pages 14 & 15
You basically want example 4 or 5

I used the GV-1 on my DX-7 for quite a long time using a simple setup.

Thanks for your help. I ended up using the idle up switch to manage the governor as well, so it is off in Normal Mode and On in both Idle Up 1 and 2. With this setup the throttle Hold switch turns it off whenever it is used (it did not turn the Governor off when it was on another switch). The RPM I left with the R-Nob being able to move it from 1600-2200.

Thanks again!
