It's starting to take some shape.

The RH side of the basic fuse still need to be shaped. The race car, dog house and tail are on the list as well.

Looks pretty cool.

ok...so, here's the next question. When you're shaping the fuselage -- how do you know where and how to stop, to keep the shape to specifications/scale? Remember, I know as much about this, as I do Ice Fishing.

I believe Ice Fishing translates to mostly drinking. There is a hole cut into the ice for the empty beer cans. When the fish comes up to see the shinny can, you grab it, That simple.

This fuse being so narrow, I chose to use a solid block of foam for the master and shape by hand. I have 3 view drawings and a station chart for the fuse. There are 7 stations along the length of the fuse I use for reference. I made exterior templates for these 7 stations and use them to check the basic shape.

Photos are also referenced. The engineering 3 view's are slices and lack 3D shape detail.

Looks great butch. What type of foam are you using and where did you get it if you don't mind me asking?

The foam is from Cellofoam. Its a 3 lb density foam used in for floating docks and for architectural construction.

I bought a block 12 x 24 x 96 for about $100.00

It sands and shapes real nice and is pretty sturdy.

Thanks Jim,

Yea I agree. I have another block of foam. Wonder what I can make with that, Hummmm.

The tail is moving along well. Still need to work the aft pylon fairing. Next will be the sponsons them the wings.

(Made a quick stand from some extra foam.)

Thanks Barry,

The goal is to get everything roughed in and return and do the finer detail to the master. The upper vertical need some minor attention where it mounts to the main fuse.
