There is considerable RunRyder traffic about Thunder Tiger at the moment.

The short story is:

-- They began struggling with their distribution system. First Ace, then Great Planes and now HRP.
-- Soon, finding their products became hit or miss.
-- That lead to the appearance of a lack of interest in their models.
-- Because of this, they then decided to discontinue many models along with parts support.
-- That both lead to an outcry from TT lovers - and venom from those abandoned with helis and no parts.
-- Surprised by the clamor for kits and parts, it appears TT may bring some items back.
-- Overlaying all of this is very poor communication leading to speculation and rumors.
-- The results is some loss of faith in the brand. I think most would agree that damage has been done.

Everyone see it the same?

I just bought a used raptor 50. I knew it was missing the spraybar assembly, and thought nothing of it. After a few hours of searching, I may have changed my mind about buying this heli having known how hard it is to find necessary parts for this bird. I ended up having to buy a whole carb from the UK just to get the spraybar....

Nah it cost around 50 bucks for the carb. Now i have a spare carb, and will find out today how well the motor runs.
Now i just need to find out which servos to get and get a governor sensor and fly the thing. What i have on there now is a DS 1313 for aileron, missing the elevator servo, a HS625MG for throttle, and a DS1015 for collective. No tail servo yet.

Wow! I never thought I'd see the day!

I learned on the Raptor 30 back in 2006. Upgrade to Raptor 50's Flew them for thousands of flights well into hard aggressive 3D. What a simple, well made / inexpensive, mechanically sound flying heli.

I just may buy one to have as a "bench memory"!

HRP says they are still waiting on the boat from Taiwan to clear the harbor and get to their warehouse. They said they should be getting parts for everything and that they should get a years notice before any parts are discontinued. So officially they are still saying parts are on the way and will continue for at least a year. I remember when Tower first took over. It took several months for the parts to show up and at the time there was the same frustration and talk about never getting parts again. It was just part of the change over process.

Could this situation be clarified a tad.

Is this a Thunder Tiger USA issue or a Thunder Tiger Taiwan/World issue?

The world is a lot bigger than the USA and Thunder Tiger is a Taiwanesse company.

Just asking the question.

Parts are available for pretty much anything from Taiwan.

E820, Raptor G4N, X50F/E, E620, Forza 450, and some planks.

Thanks don s.

Thats pretty much the point I was making.

I see often on the US based forums posts saying that a brand is no longer in business or no longer making parts. The reality is usually that there is no longer a US importer or the current importer is no longer supporting the products. This has been the case with many brands such (Kyosho/Quest, Hirobo).

It is admirable that people will try to source parts locally through national supply chains but unfortunately in a small/fluctuating hobby such as RC helicopters this is just not really always a practical solution. I live in Australia and as an avid JR and Hirobo flyer it is almost impossible to service my machines through local suppliers due to outrageous pricing and horrendous lead times. The local suppliers will also tell you particular kits/parts are not available when they clearly are. They have probably good reason to limit the breadth of product they support but to say things are no longer available is a tad disingenuous.

The US importer says they just want some more time to get their shipment in and fill the supply chain. We had a few months of no parts when tower took over.

Just curious...

Is anyone flying Raptors at events anymore?

Is TT still making new models behind the scenes or are they just making spares for the existing customer models and customer base?

My guess and gut feeling is that the importer is actually saying they are no longer prepared to stock or order parts for those helicopters.

But I could be wrong.

My guess is TT is ditching distributors and shipping direct.

HRP told me it was from thunder tiger, the factory. Thunder tiger stopped making those parts and offered a discount on new models to those stuck with the old ones. If you can still get all the parts direct from tiger then I guess they have it wrong as well.

Rappy 50 with redline 50
So got the raptor 50 running. Couldnt seem to get it tuned right.it would spool up for a min and then motor would decrease rpm and stop. This happened about 4 or 5 times then heard a knock when it stopped. Now just some crackling when i crank it. I was using 30% nitro without the brass shim under the head. Think i broke it. OS time i guess.
