Hey guys I have the super 8 and really love it ! But these past 3 weeks I have crashed 2 Helis that I have over 2500 invested and now I'm REALLY PISSED ! Both crashes I had no control. My brand new Logo was at a hover and it just slowly tilted towards ground and went in. Throttle hold did not work. Ok I thought maybe I didn't have the BEC plug secure enough. Now today my Favorite N5c while just adjusting the CGY for flight running doing pop ups and going down it went into pieroeting crazy. So I though ok lost tail servo hit throttle hold and slowly bring it down. Well after hitting hold switch nothing still in idle up. It ended up going in flat and did a lot of damage! I also had a crash over the winter with a 500 L that I thought was my fault . Now three different helis different receivers and systems but same radio. My Synergy was my most reliable machine and now it's trashed. Time to send it in and while waiting maybe I'll get the new 14. What do you guys think ?

are you using the 7003 receiver and vbar? The 14Sg is great but if you have the $$$ then get the 18SZ.

Range test...

What about range check?

Never fly without range check...

There is a possibility with your radio but... Also on your helis...
Humidity...

Actual How many hours do you have on your radio? There is a total user counter.

If you have a doubt, send it in to Hobby Services for inspection. It will not be cheap but neither is crashing.

Do you have fail safe programmed? If your TX failed and the RX lost link you would expect the heli to go into fail safe.

What servos are you using?

I have the 14 and it is all the radio that you will ever need. My only complaint is that it does not talk to you. I bought the DX9 Spektrum and love that it has the ability to tell what is going on when you are flying.
The 8 is getting a little long in the tooth these days. I know I am going to hear from the 8 lovers on this one but it is the truth.

Look at it this way....if you had taken the money that you are going to have to spend on fixing your helis and bought the 14 you would have saved yourself a lot of aggravation.

Let me ask, where all these helis flying trouble free for a long time, no configuration changes to any of them, and all of the sudden they started falling like flies?

OR,

Where there any changes to the configurations, ie battery, RX, fbl system, filmware, or any other thing?

It is possible, the TX transmitting module or something related might have gone wrong and shows when the electronics warms up.

It may be worth doing one more static ground test, to see if another heli (not flying) or RX w Servos will act up in the same way.

Just a thought before you send the radio to repair or away.

So I though ok lost tail servo hit throttle hold and slowly bring it down. Well after hitting hold switch nothing still in idle up. It ended up going in flat and did a lot of damage!
If you still had collective control after losing the tail, but had no throttle control, sounds, maybe like a cable came loose (S-bus) or the CGY was misconfigured.

Was anything still connected and working after the crash?

I had funny reactions from a CGY750 governor when switching to hold and stayed in Idle up. Sometimes hold worked and sometimes not. It was my error in setting some function priorities.

===============================================================

I had a Super 8 for over 4 years and it was bullet proof reliable. I passed it to my friend and it still working fine.
I now have a SG14 and besides its size, and ability to broadcast in FHSS and FASSTest, it is the same radio.

I am content with it, but after trying out a Jeti, my plans are now to fly Jeti as soon as I can.
If you do competition and flight testing like I do, their features and utility are endless. (I fly planes too)

Something to think about, and this is coming from someone who flown and favor Futaba the last 37 years.

I left spectrum after a P.O.S. DX8 experience. I bought the 8FG Super when it became available. Never an issue, I'm flying 6 different helis- all s-bus. Nitro CGY750, electric with s-bus and the BD3SX.

Something sounds wrong, double check your failsafe settings and make sure you didnt inhibit hold. Best of luck.
