Nope, was not the Demon.. Definitely the pitch link. Won't happen again!
Good news is that most of the damage is fuse related which simply means a week in the shop with fiberglass then repaint. Mechs are good, turbine good , head good, blades....not so good.... But, I have a spare set😬

WOW Jim,

That looks like way more then I would try and rebuild. I think I would be looking to buy a new fuse. By the way, who makes that fuse....Vario? Mark

That's the point Mark.. There were only 12 of these made by OF.. So you can't buy them ... And The Vario one is way off for scale...and smallerHome of the "Sea Cobra".....

Got you Jim. I just found your original build thread on ScaleRCHelis. I didn't know that anybody else other then Vario made a CH-53. You definitely got your work cut out for you but it would be motivating knowing that this fuse is no longer made. I've done some fiberglass repair in the past but nothing at this level. Can't wait to see it done and back in the air again at Dalton next year!

Hi Jim,
I just viewed your video and was crushed. Sorry this happened to you.I wanted to say I went through the same thing and what I found after days of frustration was a bad after market extension wire that came apart from the crimp. I replaced all the extention wires and the problem was solved.

Hey Jim, if that fuse is rare, you might want to pull some molds off that 53 after you get it fixed. That way you'll always have the ability to make spares. Just a thought...

So, I haven't done an update here for a few days, but LOTS of progress being done here. The basic fuse is All repaired, and the paint has been stripped, primered, and sanded. The upper engine pods and superstructure that was crushed is also all repaired and back together ... I just ( yesterday) finished the forward cabin/window area which required some new carbon fiber reinforcement and new window frames ( for flush mounting ). With any luck, I will be (back) doing panel lines/rivets by next week😜
