Hello all..I'm new to the forum. Runryder members seem very helpful so I have a few questions. I picked up a huey cobra at a hobby shop (Century fuselage with GMP cobra mechanics) and its never been flown..ever. Been shelved its entire life. Webra .61 that came with it (rear exhaust) never even been broken in. I'm aware GMP parts are hard to come by and I'm in need of a starter cone..it didn't come with it. I would also like to get an extra clutch and clutch bell just to have. The unit is very tight just need some TLC. I've posted some pics for everyone to see and will post more as I progress, but it will be slow as I only have so much time. Anyone have any ideas about parts or setting up? I'll take any advice, help or tips. Thanks so much.

Tom

flex seems easier, I'm going to need to take front off everytime to start..only way to access shaft. I had nexus years ago and just like gas compared to electric..little more work but worth it. Did your buddy do anything special or just improvise to make work?

you should build the copter first and test fly it to make sure every thing is ok before you put it inside the fuselage ?

i've built a few ,you can see why its important to test the model out of the fuse first.

WC..thanks for the advice. Only problem is I can't test by itself. The GMP Cobra mechanics bolt to the heli and there is no internal tail boom..it has a flex cable that runs through the rear structure going directly to tail. To be honest the unit is in great condition, it just needs to be gone through carefully. My biggest fear is it's a flybarless unit, and to keep it authentic and I'm going to have to modernize the gyro to a 3 axis to keep it flybarless. Really have no idea if it will affect it. Nice videos by the way..glad to see the huey fly..I like scale helis, that's a nice unit.

Look up Robert Gorham (the G in GMP) here, on HF and Facebook. He's still very active in the hobby and, if anyone can help you with an old GMP bird, it's him.

He took a long break, but he came back full force. He just built a Gaui R5 speed heli. LOL

Starter cone
I have all the parts you need. Starter cone,Tailboom, drivewire.
Another problem you will encounter is the landing gear. The stock gear was
Tuff Struts sixty size. The scale struts mount entirely different. I'm sure you can track down a set of Tuff struts,Once you have done that PM me and I will send you the starter cone and boom parts.
Are you already an accomplished pilot? If not get a sim and fly that for a while, The sim will not self destruct the heli will. You have a real prize
there don't blow it up!
Junkpilot

When you fly JUNK it's hard to tell when you've crashed!
