I understand that Michael Prewitt would be a contact and person to ask.
I don't know how to contact him.

He hasn't updated his Raptor site in a while but might be able to contact him through info here:

Still can't thank him enough for providing all the info he shared there.

Thanks guys, I'll try to get in contact with Michael.

In years past, Terry Dawson has ran it. I guess the torch has been passed.

SRC /Mt.Pleasant Event
Sorry nobody posted a status on this event folks. It is not happening this year I guess. I was the actual CD for the last few years after Bill Crain left it to me after we ran it for many years together. Terry was the event coordinator the last few years.
Michael got heavily into biking (you do not want to know how far he will ride on a Saturday) and has not given up on helis, just put them on back burner you might say.
Perhaps we can resuscitate it some day. No real good place to have it and costs for leasing the place we used made it hard, to cover expenses, after we split from local club.

I hope that everyone that was faithful attendees realize how much your friendship and attendance was appreciated. We had the best names in our hobby over the years. Walt Schoonard and Ewald Heim are some of the earlier ones and of course it goes without saying that
Curtis Youngblood and his father Dave came many times over the years and became regulars.

Like a said, you never know what the future holds.
BTW, Michael can still be reached thru his website raptortechnique

Amen to that. I probably never would have made it on my own without his step by step instructions on everything Raptor.

Sorry to hear this Weldon, but completely understand. Thank you for all of your efforts in MANY past years at the event. My first one was something like 1995, and I was a scared to death Novice competitor with you standing next to me telling me what to do and timing me, etc. That was challenging and fun, and I do miss the contests. I actually got 2nd place in Advanced in 1999. I will miss not going - I have an advantage as my sister-in-law actually lived in Pittsburg before she moved over to Daingerfield, but we (wife and I) got to visit and stay with her many times.
Thank you and all the guys again.

There will be no Southern Rotary Classic this year. Just too much going on in my life now for me to do it with little help.

Actually Michael has not been that active with the SRC event since 2009, he is now into riding his bicycle and doesn't fly very much anymore, he just competed in the HOTTER then Hell bike race. His father past away last year and he was a big help as well to the event.

I have been running the event along with Weldon since 2004 when Bill Crane got out of the Hobby and since we lost our orginal field we simply don't have that many people to help out with the event this year, but there are some new people I know of that are interested in helicopters in the MP area.

Therefore this does not mean it will be the last SRC, hopefully the event will be staged again in another year or two, just not happening this year.

Terry
