Ok cant decide on which i should go with. The Goblin 700 gas conversion or the HeliXHeli 700 Trex conversion. I like them both any downside to either one of them... Both take the RC engine. Of course the Goblin is the newest one on the market. If anyone has either is there anything you don't like about it. Please chime in.. Thanx in advance.

One difference is the Goblin has a electric top start option. helix does not.

I don't have either since my gassers are both Helibug conversions but I have looked at both. I like building with everything new so I like the way Goblin can be bought as a complete kit. That way, you don't have to try to sell off the unused side frames and other parts from the Goblin stock kit.

I have the Helix heli, so I can offer first hand experience about that one only.

I think it comes down to which look you prefer, whether you like belted or gears, and whether you want new & turnkey or a more traditional design with older components that can be customized a bit.

Like Rhodes pointed out, the Goblin is new and with the pre-converted kits you basically get everything you need in one shot and it all fits on the first try.

The helix is based off the old generation nitro frames with 61mm spacing so some of the parts you need are getting a little hard to find. Particularly the 115T straight maingear. Align has so many revisions of the 700 that there are many different combinations of parts that will work (different booms, tail cases, heads, mainshafts)... but sometimes it takes some experimenting to find the combo that fits. For example, finding the right length links to get good swash geometry depending on which revision of the head and mainshaft you use.

If I where to do it again I would just pick and choose parts from the align catalog, not buy a used heli to convert.

In the end, the Helix is a nice flying heli that is more than enough for my limited skilset and sport flying. It could end up a slightly cheaper build than the Goblin depending on what you start with.

Well i found a complete Helixheli that has low time on it. I would just need a motor, blades, electronics etc to get into air. I like the Goblin also. I prefer to pull start anyways. Far as belt or gears doesn't really matter to me..

If you end up buying the Helix, let us know. I can give you a couple tips on setup issues to look out for.

One other thing I forgot to add... the Helix builds out pretty light for a 700 gasser. Mine is 12.75 with a large battery and generator system. If you ran a light RX pack, light muffler and pick your components with weight in mind it should be possible to get close to 12lb all up.
