A year?

Drones are taking over the VTOL world.

As for our traditional hobby:

MA died. Hirobo contracted. Kyosho for the most part died. Thundertiger contracting. Align reigns supreme. A few startup dudes are around.

FBL has effectively finally killed the flybar. Very little candidacy in it's corner these days. And the offerings are so sparse looks like it's going the way of the rate gyro.

Nitro is hanging on but lost a lot of ground to E. Looks to have stabilized with a good sized following but nowhere the dominance it had.

From a market share perspective. No.

For the record. I don't fly Align. I fly Mikado, what's left of Hirobo, and am considering JR. But all those brands together don't come close to the number of Align's out there.

But yeah failing to mention SAB Goblin was my failing. Huge uptake in those.

And Gaui.

Still. Look at the relative post traffic on these helis. It's like 10 to 1 Align. Sure, some might be the troubleshooting Aligns tend to need, but that can't explain ALL of that posting. There's no mistaking that Align is a megalith.

I'm no Align fan but they reign supreme. If proven wrong I'll be happy.

Please. Spektrum has an extremely large footprint in the hobby worldwide. The protocol is nowhere near going obsolete. Tbird is looking for useful info, not BS.

I might say that about DSM and DSM2, but DSMX is good.

Spektrum certainly has.....at this point in time.

There are new forms of SS being implemented, which is an advancement of the technology....

Why do you claim that's BS?

Well. No longer cutting edge is a far cry from obsolete.

That reminds me. Telemetry is also gaining a lot of steam in the last year or so.

Besides, DSM and DSM2 is Paul Beard's baby...not Spektrum.

Beard made a deal with them.

And that's a good thing.

But, the data acquisition rate is still very slow with repect to capturing very fast electrical transients compared to that of an O-scope.

But, they will get better.

Welcome back Tbird!

Aside from what's been mentioned, this past year all I can think of is the Mikado Vcontrol and Neo fbl controller, and a bunch of multi copter stuff. The rest is as you can see, the same.

Man, I must really be doing something wrong. Flying Hirobo with flybars and DSM2. You guys crack me up. The "latest and greatest" is not "needed" to enjoy flying.

Well, I avoided FBL too for quite a while, but once I flew it, I was hooked. It just flies better. If a product does something that I cannot currently do, I am interested.

If it is an update for updates sake of squeezing more money out of me, then I am not spending. DSM2 worked fine for me. I did not pay to upgrade any radios or receivers. Now I do have some radios with DSMx but I did not buy them for that feature.

And yet, honest assessment would have you stating that to fly a Hirobo with a flybar, you really have to go out of your way.

I know. I fly a FB SDX. I constantly worry about parts availability. So far so good.
