Hi Guys, I am trying to make a deal with a man in Canada for a heli. He is asking 300 for it. There is a money difference with the exchange and math always makes my head hurt.LOL If I send 300 through Paypal do they then send him 353 per the exchange rate. I have never dealt across the border before and I am confused.LOL Thanks in advance, Dave

How did he specify the cost in his ad?

Did he say $300US or $300CAD?

When I sell in the USA I also ask USD and leave it in my Paypal for my next purchase.

I would ask him if I were you.

When you pay wiyh paypal you just srlect the currency...US or Can or Yen wathever and paypal convert it fir you. For example if you need to pay 300$ can...you type 300 and select CAN for currency and paypal will sent 300$ CAN and charge you wathever it cost in US $

deal with a man in Canada
Also, keep in mind the time it can take to "clear customs".

That can add a major delay in shipping that the seller has little control of.

I ship to the US and buy from the US frequently and honestly, going from Canada to the US is pretty near seamless, from US to here in Canada, our border services can be a nightmare. I just recently did a trade, items shipped the same day, he got his in 5 days, took me a full week extra. Here's something I learned though, if I'm having something sent to me from the US if its shipped via the fastest USPS method, it's held in customs, if it's the step down from that, sails right through, just got a package from Texas on Friday that waa shipped on Monday. So if you have a Canadian buyer, do him a favor and don't ship it the fastest way possible, it'll take two weeks and he will be dinged fees even if sent as a gift.

It's not...it takes forever.

One can get the same parts from the UK...5x as fast.

Canada's shipping method is the worst of anywhere.

You are aware that it's usps that takes it from the border, right? 5 days from Alberta to the opposite end of the US for 20 bucks is pretty reasonable, we get screwed when it's coming from the US and it's held in customs for a week

Have purchased many Cox engines from Xenalook in Canada. Always got a tracking number quickly but was advised of the customs issue.
Always took a while.

In another disastrous instance, I purchased several items from the Mikado distributor in Canada. I think it was when RH was just going down and their website had gone inactive.

Was a rush shipment and they used Purolator in Canada which UPS took at the border. Never got to me. UPS lost it. But the shipping rate was way high.

While I was waiting for Purolator and the Canadian Mikado dist. to figure out what was going on, I ordered the same parts from the UK, and the rushed shipping cost was cut in 1/2, and they used FedEx.

Just my anecdotal experience. Hopefully the OP will have a better experience than I.
