Multicopter software is being developed as we speak now Also you can use the VControl with anything now. All you need is a main unit...
How about some clarification on this? Are you saying that you don't need a vbar to use the vcontrol now?

Once again only able to use with there stuff. For example look at Align 690L, the APSm talk to PCU , controls retracts, and FPV tx. So it be pointless to try to use a multicopter vcontrol unit , first you have hope that control would support everything that APSm does. This just an application example.
So why would you buy a NEO if you don't have, or plan to get, a V Control TX?

You just needed a paperweight?
Well when I order my version i spoken to tech and sales. Either version can be used with a normal radio. Also both pre-sales where open at that time. Original I order the non vcontrol version, but call and changed the order. Reason was i was think i might that that radio but later found out that they will not expose the protocol to 3rd party. But still spending $60 extra was not a big deal because i would have a bet resale market. Both VControl guys and normal TX. I don't think that had any idea that the software was not going to be release until they did not reciver the normal units. Also look at how Futaba,Jr and Spec. All major vendors are allow to intergrade to the protocols ,attest for basic TX/RX functions. They are too worried about getting duplicated,(Apple in the 80 had same mind set closed source everything)
How about some clarification on this? Are you saying that you don't need a vbar to use the vcontrol now?
I belive Neo is a 6 axis gyro so it should be just software to control multiply ESC + GPS module. But just the flying controller,What might be instructing if Mikado will produce there own mulicoptor
Ok, hold on, I was under the impression that the NEO could be used with "other" txs. No?
I mean that is what this thread is about, right?
Yes One day there will be just don't hold your breath.

'With VControl and macrocells, you can literally make any channel in the VBAR output do anything. So if you need to connect to a mulicopter's input, you just assign channels so the options are limitless.
Vcontrol will also wirelessly buddy box with other radios as well…when the firmware is released for the other radios….

They were pretty quick about giving me a refund. So that's good.

The downside is that the Ikon I bought to use in the interim was surprisingly good once I got it tuned. It doesn't fly like a Vbar, but I'm not sure if I'll ditch it for the Neo in the next month (or three) when it's released.

The vbar, without a doubt was much easier to tune, and the governor seems to be better out of the box with stock settings.

OK, so $1330 for a neo...$1440 if you want to use a sym.

Versus $225 for a Spirit.

I think he did alright.

Where did you see this announcement? To my knowledge, they're still on track for a July release.

P.S. The previous VBar hardware (mini & silverline) still works just as well as it did before the NEO was announced, so I'm not sure why Spirit was the obvious fallback. But regardless, I'm glad you've found an amicable resolution. This is supposed to be fun, after all.

The Spirit is a 6 axis, 32 bit system with rescue, coaxial mode, gov, logging, vibe analysis, in a cnc metal case. The old vbar doesn't compare.

I can't find an announcement about that, but I think what you saw was just the statement that a July release could mean any time from July 1st all the way to July 31st.

So technically, they still have the whole of this month (28 days) for the release. Even then, just as they delayed before, there's nothing stopping them from delaying again.

But of course, why waste money buying the outdated mini/silverline? Prices on those are falling every day on the used forum, and I'm willing to bet that Mikado will not issue any more updates on those for a long time. So all of the flight performance improvements that users of Version 6.0 enjoy will not be accessible to any Non-Vcontrol users on the outdated vbars.

Retired ,, I don't want to get into ford vs chevy thing . Ive used both , and for set up the v controle is fantastic but for ME The xg 14 gimbles are WOW!
But like I said for ME .. Anybody can love or use what they want .
The tags doesn't have pre comp yet !
And the spirit has rescue ! It was for my sons x3 he just started flying .
Thanks guys. Oh and RON , I had just got another email from mikado wend. and it said sorry but we are going to postpone one more month because of the thieves! This was my second e mail about the delay and it was worded diff than the first one so i thought it was a new one . I could be wrong on that one . It didn't give a date just said another month .

So you're saying it has rescue, beginner mode, and a metal case.

On those features you're right, Silverline/Mini don't match up.

I'll pass on the metal case. Rescue and beginner mode are neat features, no doubt - but they're not for everyone. Of course it also matters how well they work, but I won't pick nits.
But of course, why waste money buying the outdated mini/silverline
Nothing holds resale value like a VBar. And now that they're usable for planes it's even better. Personally I would have no reservations about buying an "old" Vbar. For reps there's some pressure to keep up to date, naturally. But I have a brand new NEO sitting in a box because I'm perfectly content with how my 700 Xxtreme flies with the OLD, OUTDATED silverline vbar and am having a hard time justifying the (minimal) work to swap it.

I'm not saying there's no reason to upgrade. What I'm saying is that aside from the NEO, the old VBars remain the best FBL systems on the market IMO. It's true they don't have the control loop updates that came with V6 for VControl, but it's also true that it works great without them!

The Mini VBar I took off my 550sx is now in a 32" Twisted Hobbies Pitts and loving life. I'm not interested in putting down other FBL units, there are a number of really good ones. But dumping on a last year's VBar like it's suddenly worthless is pretty silly.
