I'm thinking of getting this motor for a Goblin 700 Competition. Has anyone tried this combo.

If you want to see what it can do, watch one of Bert Kammerer's demo flights or a winning Ircha or similar speed run. That's the motor in use +/- kv choice. Among the most powerful in that size range on the planet;it's an animal.

Is it considered to be more of a SPEED motor or can also be used for hard 3D as well.

No-no.....it's great for hard 3D. The reason they use it for speed too is because it'll not only deliver massive power but also stay together doing it. Lesser motors are not built to pull upwards of 15D of pitch at 2600+ RPM. With appropriate batteries and ESC, you'll struggle to bog it no matter what 3D you throw at it.

Thanks for the feedback Dr.Ben. I'll be pairing it up with a Cool 200
