ikon on 3 blade head??
I would like to know if the Ikon FBL unit can handle the 3 blade head or should I use another FBL unit like the Vbar.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes it can certainly work with 3 or more blades even. Only need to enter into advanced parameters and adjust swash plate phasing.

Feel confident with 3+ blade head setups on the MSH Brain

Best I've seen on 3 blades is the CGY750.
I've seen people doing just fine with the Ikon.
I've had issues with vbars particularly with the tail. Can be worked out but not the best IME.
The Neo should be an improvement. Heard some complaints about having to set the gain so low that it feels mushy but Kyle Stacy is using it so I question that. This is on a damped head though so a little easier on the gyro.

I apoligize I need to correct a comment.
Leave phasing at 0.
Yes 3 blade heads are fly able and tunable on Brain systems.

Thanks!!! I'm surprise that the vbar silverline will not hold well on the tail side. I might understand lowering the cyclic due to the 3rd blade. But I always had a excellent holding on the tail.

I will see maybe the cyclic aftect the tail? Weird!!

Also I am speeding up the ratio on my Suzy Janis from 4.72 to 4.95 using 115 tail blades. I think this will help with the 3 blade setup I'm doing. Let see!!!!

I don't have experience with the Ikon but some on 3 blades. There is no reason to not work. As a general rule you should reduce the maximum cyclic limit and a little bit on the max. pitch. Since we do not have blade designs specifically designed for efficiency on 3 bladed heads, the result end up being a little draggier than the 2 blades during large pitch pumps or full cyclic commands, so plan to increase the tail blade size from what you are used to do on 2 blades (or maybe a 3 bladed tail also). I'm pretty happy with the flight on 3 blades... very stable and very maneuverable at the same time... I think you will like it... Just as a curiosity, what machine are you running on 3 blades?

Cheers,

Marco

This is going to be my first 3 blade machine. I am building my second Suzy Janis conversion kit. This is basically a Trex 700 donor but the look is like the TDR.

I can't wait to finish it!!!

I am going to try the ikon and I will like to know a starting point on the gain?

Default on the ikon is 42 I'm thinking to start at 25. What you guys think? Lower or 25 should be a good starting point for? Currently I am using the Vbar.

Thanks in advance!!!

Here some pics of the Heli finish.

Honestly If it was me I would probably start at the defaults and work my way from there.
If you get started I'm a bad direction to begin with odds of getting it back correct is fairly low until a person typically admits defeat and defaults and starts over.
The defaults are very good all around values just keep in mind your mechanical gains are going to moat likely be much higher from the beginning than most all others so you.know the direction to start more than likely from the beginning

We are at 28 on our head gain. We don't have ours perfect yet but it is getting close. We need to go to the advanced setting and drop the elevator gain a little as that is where we are having the gains show up highTeam Jr

I'm going to choose 25 and work my way up. I have read that to high on multi blades didn't play well specially on the autorotation part.

Thank you guys for the help. I will post my findings.

Any one knows if Ikon fix the problem with the Bluetooth. With the new update the unit doesn't recognize the Bluetooth. Previously I had no problem but now after the latest update it is not communicating.

Any help with this? Thank you in advance!!!!

I apoligize on my last reply. I was reading your post for 42 at default and for whatever reason was thinking tail setup while replying to your head setup.
My bad
Yes definitly lower the head gain to 20 or so.
I can't speak from personal knowledge standpoint as in me owning a 3 blade head yet but all the guys that I know with 3 blade heads and a Brain have ended up somewhere between 20 and 28 for Cyclic.
The 3 blade heads alone are much much more rigid than even the hardest of DFC style designs little lone adding that 3rd blade to the mix. Definitly needs to be dropped probably overall around half to begin at would be where I would think a good point to start is.

Thank you I did started at 25 and end up at 30 so far is working fine. I'll still have more test to do but definitely it is working the way I planned and much better than the Vbar.

Thank you for all your help buddy.
