Oh yeah. First rule in gliding. Birds have been doing this soaring thing a lot longer than we have.

Well, now that we have to register Batman kid's toys with a federal agency, I think it's very important that when kidding, you explicitly state so. Because I've seen it all and can no longer tell if that's a joke.

LOL. I remember some 45 years ago, while still in college, I rebuilt a Ken Willard Schoolgirl bipe that was controlled by a single channel escapement.

Before I got any chance to fly it at school, my roommate had invited me to go up to his parents place in Rome, GA, about 70 miles NW of Atlanta.

Thanksgiving day, was clear, moderately warm and breezy. My roommate and his younger brother and I took the Schoolgirl out to a big clear hill and I decided to get one test glide in to check that all was square. Without turning the radio on, I launched the plane off the top of the hill down into the facing wind.

The last I saw my plane, it was in a thermal, about 300 feet high in with about 8 or 10 buzzards, all circling around. The only way I could tell the plane was from the sun's reflection on the wings/body. I must have chased that thing 7 or 8 miles as the thermal drifted off to the east, finally losing it when I ran up against a stand of woods.

This ain't a fairy tale, but a real war story.

Lol

It's cool how the buzzards fly with the glider. They don't get scared either, they will fly with me as long as I stay up there. I have done it many times since this video and they act like I am just another one of the birds.

I think it's because gliders are quiet. They are more likely to be attacked than anything. There's a video out there of an owl killing a glider. LOL

Thanks, but you gotta remember that it was just basically a free flight with rudder control. But I guess it was pretty straight.Logo 700, Specter 700, Goblin 700, Trex 700DFC, Gaui X7, Logo 690SX, Logo 600SX; Trex 470 Trex 500
