1) No disrespect to anyone here on this thread but there was problems with production blades as shown in the photograph below. (I know of a few others as well including tail blades) This occurred to one of a set of Red tip Spin Blades that I was running up to 2600 rpm. I watched the blades go out of track during a stunt so I hit the auto switch and landed safely. A habit I learned in the good old days doing prototype work with rotor blades. (failures occur all the time in the prototype stage before being released to the general public)

*The photo shows exactly what I saw after I stopped the rotor head with a production blade.

2) I am glad they made some changes however I still think it should be MANDATORY that all rotor blades have a safety wire in my humble opinion.

3) Note - Cyclones are good up to 3000 rpm and uses a safety wire.

Robert I see what you are trying to say, but I disagree. I don't think you should say there was a problem with the blades when you admit to running them past their limit. Now if they had done that under the rpm limit I would agree with you 100%

Go read the ENTIRE thread over on HF from back when all this SPINblades nonsense started.

They did and for MANY pilots. No one is going to trust your sponsor until you start taking responsibility for your engineering failures.

After catching up with this topic at the freak, to me, the photos below should speak for themself.

Radix

Having built wings from scratch, I truly appreciate the cross section photos. (kudos to those that posted and or sacrified a good pair for such)
Never owned RADIX but the "D" box type structure is something I'm definitely familiar with.

Given I will probably never overspeed any of my blades, once all the dust settles, Im looking forward to seeing a cross section photo of the final product.

Best of luck to the manufacturer and downline.

I think the horse is dead !
If you don't trust them don't buy them ,
If you have old ones don't go past 2300 rpm . THe new ones are manufactured through a different process!
Let someone else try them and time will tell . Just my two cents .
Ok one cent

Spinblades...please send WC some free blades. The old ones. Wicked won't mind rebuilding a machine; if he gets free blades.

All I know is the spinblades debacle being discussed is an old issue. About a year ago, our local rep and a bunch of others he knew decided to terminate their sponsorships. I didn't even know what a spinblade was and yet I was hearing about this scandal. The quitting reps couldn't hock what they felt was a bad product. Everyone has their ethical limit.

So is this new offering any good? Who knows? But what I do know is that once bitten, twice shy. Best strategy: Full disclosure. What happened? Why? What was done to fix it?

Wow, awesome thread...Good information to know. I was not aware that the old SBs had issues. Most here fly JR, Radix, or Cyclones. Some even fly Aligns. All held up quite well in some really nasty crashes.

I will be sure to pack up and leave if I see someone bring out a heli with old SBs on it.

To be fair though, it does seem like they are trying to regain the market's trust...But sad to say, even if they've truly fixed the issue, I will probably still never buy set...the stigma will always be there. Same reason I still don't fly Align blades on anything bigger than a 550.

MMarozas, Hang in thereEngaging with the public as a rep is not always pleasant but, you are holding your own and making some good points. But, then again, so is Prototype3a.

Are Align blades really that bad. Honestly I don't fly them but now that I think of it, I don't remember ever seeing them fail.

Align blades seem Ok. I have a set of 720's, very nice finish, "spooky" quiet, floaty.
Of course I'm sure they can be destroyed too, if enough effort is put into it.
I'm sure mine won't be seeing 3000 rpm anytime soon.
