I agree with you completely.

And I'm not going to get a generator...it's just not for me.

But our club's "dues" are a mere $50 per year....and we have no club officers, so there are no "club politics"....

And the field is within < 20 miles...round trip...

OK. It's just that it's not optimal to charge and then leave them charged overnight. The effect is cumulative.

I'm just "razzing" you, Aaron...I'm very lucky to be able to fly with this group of individuals.

The plankers are flying aircraft that are more expensive than a Henseleit....and the protocol is people fly "one at a time"...no midairs, landing issues, etc.

The added bonus for me, is that they let my some pretty serious...very large planks....and my elec. heli flight is only 5 mins....so I can "squeeze" into the flight order.

Also, have a "Pocket Radar", so when the discussions of who's plank is faster....I'll entertain the "peanut" gallery by clocking plank speed passes...

So we all have a great time....because we're all fans of "model aviation".

I follow this rule too although I will leave mine charged overnight, but not more than a day.

I have to wonder, the whole purpose of a battery is to store and discharge energy.I just dont see how storing energy for short ammounts of time is damaging, and if doing this was THAT damaging, wouldn't the manufacturers be warning against this?I have not seen anything by any battery manuf. that says leaving them charged overnight is bad

There's no need for a warning. You could leave it charged all year. But you'd have 80% the original battery.

The warnings are to stop fires. Leaving charged isn't that high an issue. It's just an issue of longevity.

Although there is a good argument that a discharge or storage charge battery is safer.
