10J Throttle Cut. Please Advise.
What do I need to adjust in the 10J to make throttle cut work only within a specific throttle stick range?

I have throttle cut assigned to SW A and it works as advertised. The problem is it kills my engine regardless of where my throttle stick is and regardless of flight mode. With my 7c, throttle cut would only kill the engine when the stick was at idle.

I've known it's a point of potential failure in my system and learned today while inverted at 30 feet how quickly the rotor slows down when you inadvertently activate throttle cut. I was lucky to recover it enough to only lose the skids and a blade.

It appears there is nothing I can do according to the manual.

"At function operation, this position is held regardless of the throttle stick position."

Anyone else able to figure out a work around to this?

Jeff,
I looked all over for a way to do it. The only solution I can come up with is to disable throttle cut and make a throttle to throttle mix. Use the VR knob for the switch on that mix so it isn't easy to turn the mix on by accident.

Thanks Mark. Putting throttle cut on the VR knob sounds like a great idea. I'll play around with the mixing percentages to find a combination that works. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I'll let you know how it ends up.

Throttle Cut on my 10J is now inhibited. I always knew it was a point of potential failure and made a conscious effort to try and avoid hitting it while flying.

After giving myself an engine failure while inverted which tested my low-head-speed-piro-flip-to-a-hovering-auto-skill, I've decided to finally come up with a solution.

Thanks to Mark's idea, I went in and created a throttle-to-throttle mix that only allows the carb to be closed when the stick is at idle and in normal mode. I was able to keep it on Switch A (VR knob was not an option in the mixer menu).

Hopefully this solution will keep the engine running no matter how I try to kill it in the future.

Here's a screen shot of how I set it up on the 10J:

Thi means that once it is engaged, you can move the throttle stick and nothing will happen, it will remain in the mode.

Try to select mode from "norm" to "rev" and see if that helps.

Only two modes are available in the throttle cut menu. NOR and ESC. With minor variances, both seem to work the same - Once activated, the servo moves to the 'carb closed' position regardless of the throttle stick position on the transmitter. Not a good option for us with fat fingers

OK. Sorry.
What I wrote is how it works on the FG14. Thought it would be the same.
