I wonder how much of the out of stock blades had to do with the port slowdown on the west coast with all the container ships just sitting the harbour in Seattle and LA and SF...
Has the slowdown at ports been going on for the past 2 years? To be honest, blade selection has been pretty darn thin for a while now. And I buy choose blades more on what's in stock than what I want to fly. I want 690s but the only sets instock are 713s...so that's what I settle on. Getting at least the brand I want is more of a novelty these days.

This feels similar to when Campbell MFGing went out of business...I was told that they were just relocating overseas...so I waited for V-Blades to come back in stock....guess what? I'm still waiting years later.

I just hope this is just a slump and not the new norm.

I have ran 695 and 715 cyclones and they are very efficient and responsive on rolls and flips. Some pilots say they are not as quick on collective as other blades, but I have not done many blade comparisons on my 700.

I just put the 553mm switch blades on my G570 and I am really impressed with them. They are a little quicker than stock with comparable battery consumption. You also can't go wrong with Bert's support of a product. I will be putting some 693mm Switch blades on my 700 in the near future.

Story is that Switch bought the rights to Edge designs...I have no idea if that is true though.

I'm not sure why, but I went to HD and they have both Switch and Cyclone FBL 693/695s instock. For some reason, the Switch blades do not come up unless you look for them specifically....there's not alot of feedback on them and but I think I will give them or the Cyclones a go. Thanks guys!Mellisa

I will Jeep. I noticed that whenever I find a good blade preference, they go out of business. Seems like every year or so, I have to find a new blade brand. First, I liked NHP, MSH, then V-blade, now radix (I think they are still making them, but they are hard to find) and Edge. Geez.

Just last year in August, I decided to fly Edge and I already have to find another good brand.

I thought I'd try out Align blades until that whole safety dicbocle and even now I still try and stay away even though they've probably fixed the issue by now. There's nothing wrong with Mavrikks, but I won't fly them because whenever i used to see a totalled heli in the trash at the field, there was always a mangled set of Mavrikks in there with it. Just a mind thing I guess. Anyone flying JR blades?

Amain has both Switch 693s and Cyclone 695s in stock. Rail 696s in stock also.

I got a set of the Switch 693XFs and their 105 tail blades that I will try tomorrow.

If they are, in fact, the old Efge blades rebranded to the Switch name, I would suspect that you would see the same differences as you saw between the old Edge and the Edge SE blades.

Just a gut feeling though.

Update:

Got two flights on the Switch 693XFs today. First observation is that they tracked perfectly. Second observation is that I literally couldn't tell any difference in performance between them and my Edge 693SEs.

The measured blade weights were within .3g of a set of the 693SE blades and were within .1g of each other. After balancing and checking CG, the weight came to within .06g of each other, with the CG of each blade as close as could be measured to each other.

My first test flight on my Trex 700 DFC ended with a stripped KDE main gear and an unplanned auto and they felt the same as the Edges on the auto. I switched the blades over to my Logo 690 and pitched it pretty hard, with no issues or differences noted.

As far as I am concerned, I am happy.

Thanks for the detailed feedback rcflyer

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Sounds like I will be happy with the Switches when I change out my old Radix 690 FBs after the FBL upgrade on my TRex 700N.

I've never flown SE's (never in stock), but I'd imagine they are quicker around the center right?

The Switches I ordered should be here on Monday and it'll be fun to try them out.

IMHO, I can't tell, as I am not a hardcore smack type of flyer. I would probably say that they are smoother and more stable than something like the Youngblood Stick Bangers.

I have always heard from a friend that he didn't ever know someone who didn't like Edge blades, and I have pretty much been flying Edges for the last 3 years. I have a set of Rail 696s, and didn't feel they had any limitations in flight, but I felt they lost energy in autos a lot faster than did the Edges.

I currently have a set of the Cyclones on my X7, and can't really feel any difference in flight except they have a louder pop than the Edges and Switches, but no weird flight characteristics.

I guess it is a personal choice, and it will have to be you that decides if you like them or not. I saw two sets of them at the Alverado fun fly today, mine and one other set. Unfortunately, I didn't really check out the numbers. I do know that I saw one set of planted Cyclones, but that's all I recall.
