Yeah I know. Lots to worry about if I have to auto rotate. Fun to practice on a simulator, but you don't practice on a rig like this. Time will tell!!! Pre-Flight and Post Flight will become the key. But then again you never can tell what will happen. When I get the motor hyped up to the 30, I am hoping it will be a noticeable change in power.Delhi, New York 13753

I be willing to bet, that Heli would drop like a rock. It be fun to take her up to 250' n hit the hold then flip out after a simulated auto at say 75' see how she reacts of course with a sim load aswell bet it don't like it muchTrex600n,Trex500,MR25,MikadoLoGo5003d/KDE,Goblin 380XNova,CastleCreations,Ys,JR XG8,Tags Mini XBus Dmss//FAA# FA3NYC9TAP

Hey if anyone has a Real Flight Simulator, could you simulate an auto rotation with my equipment and 33 & 38lb payload? I have Phoenix Simulator and it is not the best. Appreciate it! Airstar Monogoose 830mm blades & 1000mm blades at 29cc and gear ratio at 10.5:1 as suggested. Curious!!!!Delhi, New York 13753

hmm
Just my two cents, I would certainly mod that motor if you have that much load under the hood. Not only would the power increase/ torque with headroom, but the motor would have some smoothness added in.

Nice setup.

Is it possible that Hanson can port the 30cc engine for more torque at a lower rpm say 11,000 to 12,500? Just a passing thought. I run a Hanson 30cc puh on my Spectra and at 1800 head speed I am around 12,800 area.Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Just curious, so don'y bash me.
Why not move to a high resolution small digital camera instead of lugging that heavy pro-brick. I have dabbled in aerial cameras for a hobby and have found the 14 megapixel (and up) little cameras give great results that really look good after photoshop editing.
Unless you need lots of different lenses like telephoto, why not a simple lightweight megapixel ?
I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Yeah- I am definitely going to mod the motor with Hansen. In fact I am calling him today. I will let you know what he says about your comment. As far as the camera gear, we use a variety of lenses which are key to our AP Business. Check out our work when you have a chance at http://www.aerial-pros.com . Lenses and settings are key. I am actually hoping someone can simulate my Auto Rotation on their computer and see how bad it will be? My computer simulator is terrible. Most of my weight comes from my battery electrical box that i recently fabricated. I will post new pictures after a couple of test flights.Delhi, New York 13753

I spoke to Al from Hansen Motors. He said getting my motor up to 29.5cc is no problem. I thought he hopped them up to 30cc. he said he just completed a 30.5cc motor for a guy and is waiting for the test results from him. Once he gets the results and all is good he can hop my motor to 30.5, changing the crank, piston and boring the cylinder etc. If results aren't good I will go to the 29.5cc which he said is very powerful, smooth and very good on gas.Delhi, New York 13753

nice
I used to be in the gasser scene. Hanson is still working out his big block performance. He is porting them like I remember. The smaller block will not be very much diffrent in power than his big block unless he figured out they need porting done diffrent. You will be fine.

Ok-Just spoke to Al from Hansen. We are still waiting on test results from 30.5cc motor he did for client. I questioned him on "porting" and he told me that he does extensive porting work as well. He said I should have plenty of torque with the 30.5cc. We both want to make sure that the test results don't show excessive vibration issues. I know I can tweak my motor to 29.5cc with no problem. He has done many of them and have been great. I am test flying heli this Sunday. I haven't installed new landing gear yet or installed aux. fuel tanks, just new battery and electronic boxes with switches. I weighed in at 30.20lbs. My original weight before added new boxes was 28lbs. I should be fine with 830mm blades. When I send motor to Hansen I will change main blades to 1000mm, 10.5 gear ratio, extend tail boom, add new landing gear and aux tanks etc. Does anybody have any recommendations as to what size tail blades I should run with the 1000mm main blades?Delhi, New York 13753

Finally got a chance to test fly my heli. Weighed in at 30.2 oz. 830mm blades,
28.5 Hansen Motor. Flew Great! Now I'll put some hours on it and then as soon as I hear from Al from Hansen Motors and he gives me the results from the 30.5cc motor he did for a client and the results are good-sending my motor in for the upgrade, then the 1000mm main blades, and then the Aux tanks adding the additional weight. Hoping that combo will work fine. Gear ratio I am going to use is 10.5.
