Hi again guys, as you red in my last posting Jan/15, regarding the metal gears for the 42 deg gearbox, I had 2 issues:
1.- Once again after 10 Tanks, the horizontal shaft of the 42deg gearbox
broke just after the coupler..same as in January..there are no misalignment issues, so I don't understand why. Maybe my flight style is too egressive for Vario stuff ( low level, hamerheads, bank turns.
Solution: I'll try to upgrade from 2mm to 3 mm shaft.
2.- I was flying in a slow forward and suddenly lost rotor rpm's but engine was running fine....autorotation and landed over a small bush...like a cotton bead!!!! very lucky..no damage at all.
I inspected and found that the pin that connects the main shaft with the oneway bearing was BROKEN!!! both tips were gone!!! I don't dare to ask Vario for an explanation cause they will answer that it might have been my breakfast that day!!! LOL.
Solution: I tried 2 alternatives:
a.- Made a new pin from an electric motor 3mm shaft.
b.- Made the final one from the rear part of a 3mm drill bit.
Both worked fine but the last one is harder steel. I also cut the pin edges at 90º so I have 100% contact with the bearing groove.
