I tried to fire up my wren 44 for the first time today and it keeps flaming out at switchover from kero start to run. The manual says if this happens to increase the pump start point by 2. I have gone through the ecu settings and can't find it anywhere. The basic settings start at Max rpm and end with PW limit. It goes through all the settings in order as it should, but skips over pump start point and pump start ramp.

I had to do the same thing with mine, took me awhile to find. I don't believe its under the start menu. I wish the manual explained the ECU navigation a bit clearer. Ill head up, take a look and report back. Maybe one of the gurus will chime in

start on the "home" screen push up arrow until you get to the menu selection screen. Then hold the down arrow for"run" until you enter the next menu. then push the up arrow until you come to the pump ign kero then use the plus and minus to move the value.

Simply unplug your radio to save values

Dan, thanks. Nowhere in the manual does it mention how to get into that menu. I really wanted to fire it up today as the weather was great and they are calling for crap the rest of the week.

I posted a video addressing this nearly two years ago....look up Wren Turbines Pump Start Point on You Tube. There are several short tutorials, including starter replacement and service.
Hope this helps.

Also, the complete manual is available online at Xicoy's website. It goes into detail regarding these settings.

Thanks Ron, I will download the entire manual. With your help and Dan's, I was able to change the setting last night, now I just need the chance to try it again.

I moved the pump start point by 2 at a time and when I increased it to 6 (total 42) it started and ran like a clock. I think the only thing I am waiting on now for the test flight is ends for the tail boom supports, I had to shorten them because of the extended rear frame.

Ok, everything has been working great, I flew last week one time and decided to fly the turbine tonight. I had to bump the pump start point up a little while back to 45, I blamed it on some cold weather we had, worked fine since then. Tonight it would cut out again at the switch over, so I took the pump start point up again one at a time, I had to take it up to 50 to get it to run. Is that getting kinda high? Is there something I am missing, it ran fine, but I don't feel comfortable bumping it every couple of flights. I hooked up the programmer after the second try and watched it, everything was normal until it tried to switch over, no unusual readings.

Is your ECU battery new? Was it full charged?

It's the battery that came with the unit two months ago. I charged it just before trying it.

I would suggest that you simply try another battery...

I put a new 3300 mah fully charged on it and backed the pump start back to 48 and it did the same thing. Bumped it back up to 50 and it started fine.

Well isn't this something. Last weekend at the fun fly I noticed it was starting a little hard. And this weekend, failure to launch.
