I'm trying to set up the heading hold on a 3GX with a spectrum DX6. using a single satellite on 3gx with no receiver.

Setting up the gyro function to the gear channel and assigning to the flight mode. Setting positive +80 & -80 for heading hold and rate mode. But the gear channel on the 3Gx seems to be controlling the governor function and not the gyro gain.

3GX manual mentions using chan7 as the gyro gain. Unfortunately is a 6chan TX.

Am I missing something here? Would someone shed a little light on this problem?

Thanks!

I swear never to try that trick again! What the hell is only money!

Must use a separate receiver since there is no way to change the channel assignment, with a separate receiver the gyro gain is inside the 6 channels, forget which one it is exactly. Or, get a 7ch radio.

Yea that was my conclusion too. 3GX ch5 is governor & ch7 is gyro gain. You either use a receiver or 7ch + Tx.
I was helping a friend. Set it to my DX9 & it works perfect.

O well! He just have to spend more money. Is never ending with this hobby!

Can't be done with a satellite receiver. When connected to satellite receivers, the 3GX EXPECTS gain to be controlled using Channel 7 (AUX 2), something a 6 channel transmitter doesn't have.

To get around this, you use a standard receiver, connected to the 3GX using the set of cables provided in the box. The Gyro gain wire (blue wire) plugs into channel 5 of your external receiver, and then you control gain using Channel 5, something your DX6 can do.

A SIX CHANNEL RECEIVER WILL DO THE JOB. If you have one, there is no need to spend extra $$$. Just have to be smart enough to connect the cables correctly.

Its not about being smart enough . Is about buying a six channel receiver which he doesn't have. So it involves spending money
Very aware of the problem now.
Appreciate everyone's replies.
Thanks!

Good luck, the "smart enough" comment wasn't meant to be evil or derogatory, by the way.
