I need help.

I had a little crash couple of weeks ago nothing major. I put the heli back together and I’m in the process of setting up the 3GX but when I’m in E.REV mode (sub-trims, expo, dual rates are at 0 and throttle stick at 50%) and I tilt the heli forward, the swash moves in the correct direction but doesn’t level again. It stays tilted. The A.LIM is fine. I tried using different 3GX versions and nothing. Also, when I’m out of the DIR mode, the swash has an extreme amount of travel (over 16 degrees approx). What am I doing wrong? Is there a problem with my 3GX?

Thanks in advance

Are your servos OK? Are all their gears intact?

The large amount of swash travel in normal operation mode is not unusual.

Check the servo horns and make sure they are not stripped. If they are the plastic ones that is...

I have seen a video of this. It is not the servos, the 3GX is behaving weird. I have asked for screenshots of the setup parameter menus

Here is another thought.

Save your current settings off to disk.

Then use the PC software to reset the unit to its default settings. See what happens.

Hi guys, I have tried everything... I even bought a new 3GX. I have updated my radio from V1.1 to V5.0 (futaba 8fg), reset the radio, created a new model and I'm still having the same problem. I don't know why this is happening now, I flew that heli for over a year and I never had a problem until a month ago when I had a small crash. Here is the video.

A different FBL control unit, same behavior. Time to rule out the 3GX as the problem.

Looking at the vid I see what you are saying about the swash staying tilted forward during setup, but I also see it go back to center when moving to aileron limits. then in normal flight mode it is moving fine.

the extreme movement of the swash is because you are moving the stick and the 3gx is expecting an attitude adjustment, when it doesn't see the heli move it keeps adding throw until the EOT. which is why it takes several seconds to return to level when you let off the stick

I think it is working the way it is supposed to.

FWIW I have run 3gx on Trex 450 pro, two Trex 550 DFC's, two Trex 500's converted to DFC, Trex 600 Nitro and 700 nitro

trying to reflash does't hurt anything

The 3GX didn't behave like this before the crash. The video doesn't much detail but the swash barely moves in "flying move" even if I tilt the heli fast.

I'm in no way an expert on the topic but I agree with Driveslayer.....The behavior I see in your video is what I would expect.....

Are you sure this behavior wasn't similar before your "incident" ? and that now you are being more critical because you want to be thorough before you fly it again ???

At this point I would say to test hover it and see how it behaves.....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Through a PM, I have been told that a reset of the model memory and working with the servo reversing function in the TX to get stuff moving correctly once again, the "problem" has vanished.

Having tried two separate 3GX controllers, and having them both behave the same way, tends to discount the 3GX controller as the source of weirdness.

I suspect either a corrupted model memory in the TX, or a setting that was incorrect. I am waiting to see if after the model memory reset and the subsequent re-set of the heli, makes everything work as expected.
