I've never been to Old Forge, Pennsylvania, or tasted the famous "White Pizza" that originated there,
Old Forge boasts of being the "real" pizza capital of the world.
BOTH products above have AFW.

I guess you guys wanna fight about ESC's.

WC, Cobra, "The Doc", me-self........We'll save you a seat. No guarantee on any pizza being left.

We're gonna figure out if Aaron29 should get a raptor or sceadu.

HA!

My beer and pizza is better than yours...
It doesn't even need AFW to perform flawlessly.

Save your money boys!

AFW isn't unique to Kontronik.
Not that fond of the YGE mechanical package. Just my preference.

Not going to buy the Chinese electronics.

So my choices are limited as a result.

OK, we've learned a number of good things regarding the performance of Kontronik ESC's. How about the pc interface? How well does it justify the $100 price?Team POP Secret

I'm not sure if your talking about the prog unit ,, but mine was $62
Just buy what u want , fly what u want , I do ! I'm healthy , I don't drink , I don't do drugs , don't smoke ,I drive a used truck , I don't owe a dime to anyone .And I am lucky enough to do it ! And I love my ma ma !! God has shined down on my family's lives . I'm not telling anyone to buy or fly anything . Just pointing out that my kos works great for my LHS Heli . And my CC do ther job on my other Helis. If CC had active freewheeling I would buy that too. And Its great to say they are, MADE IN AMERICA!!! That's the best reason of all ! Ouch bang boom crash !!!
Ok I just fell off my soapbox ! Lol

Bob, I got mine...think you're talking about the new "ProgUnit"....at Mikado USA at their price of ~$70.

Why embellish the price?...

Justify....2 main reasons

The "Prog Disk" is obsolete....have one, and never liked it's strange operation.

I like the new Kon/Kos GUI, been a long time coming and they came thru.

To be clear..."Prog Disk"..vs. "Prog Unit & Win GUI interface"...

Have never been comfortable with the "beeping/peeping" ESC "feedback"....any models...it's just barely works ...a source of end user confusion....

In addition, Kon, also an has onboard IFDR, they have R/T transmission of such info via "Bluetooth"...among other features.

Would say this....CC are considered by many to be the "benchmark" of PFW ESCs

And most would consider, equally that Kon, are the "benchmark" for AFW.

It's a matter of what you need....and what you want to afford given whatever budget

I didn't mean to embellish the price, someone mentioned that earlier in this thread. I'm only familiar with the castlelink which I got years ago for 20 bucks or so and allows me to do all setup and logging and whatnot. I think they're giving it free with the 120hv for $235 these days.
So, just looking for details on the kony offering and how it compares is all.

Expensive? Really?
This is one of the lowest cost hobbies I'm into. LOL

And it can be very reasonable if you know what you want.

know what you want.
If this is inexpensive for you...compared to your other hobbies..I salute you.

I'm not into golf...fast cars/women...nor gambling or ChiCom products...

My personal decisions are based what I decide, based on engineering, and not "what I've heard".

No offense, it's just my way....

This is the reason I'm in this hobby. I've spent more on "fishing" gear.
Start landscaping your yard and watch the $$$$$ disappear. Downhill skiing. Ammo-$68 a box. Snowmobile-$10,000. Quad (4X4)$10,000.

ESC=< $500-600....Not to bad, really. And we're talking high-end stuff. Not chinese junk.....there's where the money goes.

Kontronik all the way. Once you get burned a couple times (literally) its hard to look back. Even if the problems are fixed

Yes. Really. Build a 1/5 scale or larger turbine scale heli. The cost gets into the realm of ridiculous very quickly!

But I get your point and agree. Large turbine scale is not exactly the "mainstream" of this hobby (but we all have our vices! )

I did high performance auto stuff for while (racing, high horse power, etc.) That is a pretty easy and quick way to piss away money.
