Dr. Ben ill informed comments about what a team pilot might pay for something.
if I'm wrong you just have to post your 18MZ invoice here.
Dr. Ben If you have such distaste for these two companies and the products they manufacture and distribute, you have the freedom to not only not purchase but also not bash them here.
nothing against them I was just saying the truth because I know the factory cost of many RC stuff and Hobbico's profit margin is awesome!
Dr. BenI'll see if I can get a email sent to Tanaka san via Steve or Nick or Hobbico and find out about the spline curves.
does Futaba Japan have email account or do they chat by internal network ? inokoshi@ml.futaba.co.jp

The cost to manufacture a product DOES NOT INCLUDE the engineering and manufacturing development costs. The USA costs of JR or Futaba covers the shipping, US repair facility, the warehousing and sales, and the marketing that includes sponsoring top pilots - and some portion of the development costs.

Wes Suggs - "If you can't afford the hobby, get out."

Dr.Ben always provides accurate information about Futaba products.

Now let's get back on topic, including me.

I do not have a direct email address nor do I communicate with them that way. I use established channels within the chain of command, so to speak.

I sent in my check along with the rest of the team members who aquired their 18MZ's early on; I think I kept the invoice for the time it took to throw it and the outer packaging into the trash. Regardless, it is absolutely none of your business what myself or any other team member, Futaba, JR, or otherwise, pay for equipment, and it has no bearing on my willingness and ability to provide the most accurate info that I possibly can for customers for the 18SZ in this thread as questions arise. There is no secret that I fly for Hobbico and Futaba and Kontronik, so if you have some deep resentment for myself and any other reps here, then I would suggest you take it to a new thread and have a bash fest there rather than selfishly obstipating this informational thread about a new radio. If you want to know the details of how Hobbico, JR, and any of the other radio manufacturers run their teams, I would suggest you contact them directly and do so before you post as though you have the inside scoop about what any team pilot pays for equipment. Even if I got a radio for free, I'd still tell people the truth as I know it from bone fide sources. I sleep fine at night knowing this. I'll be damned if I need to prove that to you via a childish and petty challenge to post an invoice.
Now let's get back on topic
Sounds like a plan Richard.

Hi my only concern is ordering radio equipment from Rcjapan would be the FCC approuval number.

Are those unit ship from Rcjapan FCC approuved?

In case of an accident using non FCC approuved equipment, could it get you in trouble?

Operating any device that requires FCC certification in the US that hasn't been certified could get you in trouble with the FCC whether or not an accident occurs.

The FCC does take this seriously:

The other issue is warranty support.

From what I can ascertain all modern Futaba Transmitters
meet or exceed all FCC regs

Regardless of where they are sold

The only difference is they will have a governing body sticker
for whatever country they are destined to be sold in

Here in the USA it would be a FCC sticker

With that being said I have 3 Futaba radios purchased from
Tower Hobby without any FCC stickers or other identifying stickers

My DX6I and an old JR. do have FCC stickers though ??

So am I going to be arrested and hauled off to jail
because my newer Futaba radios bought from Tower don't have FCC stickers on them

Is the AMA and my home owners insurance going to say tough luck
if there was an incident

I don't think so !

I don't think a FCC sticker question would ever even come up

As far as a warranty repair buying from overseas means it goes back overseas for repair

The turn around time is little longer is all

However some one wants to interpret the info in the link above be my guest
I am not interested as I am not a lawyer

Interesting. Which Futaba transmitters do you have that do not have FCC I.D. numbers posted on them? If they are transmitters that use a frequency module, then the FCC identifier will be on the module, since the transmitter, itself, doesn't produce the radio frequency output.

Is there any chance that the original label has come off the transmitter at some time? We don't know of any Futaba transmitters that did not come with the required labeling.

Round trip international shipping for a warranty repair doesn't seem very cost effective and would likely negate any savings from purchasing off-shore in the first place.

Looks like a really nice radio. I love the Futaba 14 SG. I sure this will be another quality product, looking forward to the release.

I enjoy the posts from Ben. Very good information.

18SZH vs 14MZ
Will this unit be more less then 14Mz radio box ?

Are in the same size as 14SG ? Have not see 14SG live.

Have 14MZ 2,4GHz & 10CAG, most say as 10C are bettere to hold it than 14MZ in my case.
But I like much better about the sticks in 14Mz.

What of range will this be , in the best case between :

A: 14Mz - 18Mz ?

b: 14SG - 18Mz ?

Are the only telemetry meny some are difference from 18MZ to 14MZ?

I'm curious about that new HV receiver pictured with the 18sz. Its taken way too long for the development of better gauge wire to power the receiver.

Seems the price will be close to the JR XG14, a bit more at around $1,100.

RC Japan is showing a dedicated version for multirotors, 18SZM. I wonder what features make a radio specialized for multis? Perhaps a built in flight video screen. That would be nice.
