I just learned the tricks to removing those stubborn screws without damaging them.

1. The right tools.

2. Use more digits. Should have been using my toes all along. Silly me.

These actually work very well assuming you have not already screwed up the head trying other methods, AND there is room to get the tool and a swing in. Maybe not for Rc though you need something pretty significant to stand up to the hammer smack

iv'e alawys learned weather it be rc or a catipilar 950h im working on ,
that heat is your best friend, if the screws arent comming out and your stripping them ,then , your not applying heat the right way , be it a solding iron or a lighter or a torch , ive gotten screws to come out with ease with heat , even when it seemed the screws were red lock-tighted in there and wouldnt move, heat opened the door to easy removal.. just my 2 cents

The first time I saw those was back in the 60s and when I started working on bikes in the 70s we used them all the time, great tool.

Notice 2 things:

#1, he appears to have whacked his finger with a much larger hammer before filming this footage, still bloody and skinned.

Working on large machines in the heavy equipment industry, it is often very impractical to apply heat to a fastener or assembly.

A large ball peen hammer or brass hammer properly applied becomes the most effective fastener removal tool you will ever find.

Shock loading works on everything from steam fittings to machinery manufactured in 1952.

Janitors use torches.

what john deer tractors? i have no problem getting a torch on most parts of a cat. but my point of all this rubbish was, that its an engine and rather than beating the engine ,just put it in the oven and heat it up then try to remove the screw how you normally would, 9 times outta 10 it will come right out, providing your not using harbor freight drivers

At 2500 I ll buy a new engine or carb but those multipliers are great for Dana gear boxes when needing to torque down the pinion gear crush washer for setting the pinion preload. Wow never knew they cost that much think harbor makes one ?? Dam good tool , but like said b4 good tools with proper tightening with lock tite will work a whole lot better IMHO

Also they sell inch once torque wrench/driver s for rc.

Think half the problem is over tightening with lock tite it strip thread then u try to back off n can't get past the pulled threads or the pulled threads are trying to cram them selves into the threads be fore it causing a locked thread jam

I have the theory that the lock-tite will gall or pull pieces of aluminum (threads) free. It's that strong and aluminum against steel fastener doesn't help, either.
Try to choose-n-use correctly. The bottles look similar, the stuff inside isn't the same.
A little heat can soften it just enough to help, when necessary.

Bearing retaining compound? Fugittabodit....

I have one of those impact wrenches. I don't use it often, but the times I've used it, it was invaluable. Nothing else would have gotten the job done.

The last time I used my impact wrench was to help a friend disassemble the lower end of his outboard motor. The combination of PB penetrating oil and an impact wrench was the only thing that made this unit come apart.

Yea, it's probably not a model helicopter tool.

yea on second thought scratch the heat idea , i forgot we are dealing with alum, and heat will deform it rather quick, i think anything above 350f will start to compromise the alum,
my numbers may be a little off but close enough ,
and i also think it would be to easy for most people to go nuts on the heat and heat up the metal to quick and to hot that it starts to deform it , so to recap , no torch on our helis
