Hello all,

I have an old Trex 600CF I am updating. Its the old 6S setup.
Converted from FB to FBL. Converted from belt to TT. Castle HV85 ESC

My goal is to upgrade motor to the RCE-BL600mx 1220kv 6S from the old Align 600l 1620kv motor.

Here are the parts I have thus far.

Main Slant 112T Part- H70020
Auto Rot gear 131T Part- H60199
Torque Tube Front Drive Gear Set part- H60228
Pinion gear 11T/M1 Part- H55071
Main Gear Case Set Part- H60200

Are these gears good for a lower HS and less bogging?
Let me know your thoughts and if you have any suggestions for different gearing or motor.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what you consider low head speed, you are going to run a gear ratio of 10.18 and that with a 1200kv motor will not give you a low head speed. You need a much lower kv motor. I have two helis with a ratio of 8.0 with a 500kv and 560kv motors. My head speeds are 1150 and 1300.

The math says 2660rpm unloaded at 22.2volts , so your KV is quite high, close to double what you need.

Good to know. What motor would you recommend throwing in this heli? Open for suggestions. And yes looking for a HS of around 1200-1500

Thanks

1200 to 1500 on a 600 wirh 600 blades I am assuming. Does anyone here run a 600 on a 6 cell at this headspeed? Just guessing but 1200 may be abit low to shoot for and have good fly ability?
I thought a sweet spot on a 600 was somewhere between 1400 and 1800.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

If its with in your budget, i would highly recommend stretching that 600 with a 700 boom and use 690mm main blades. That with a 560kv motor and 8.0 gear ratio. I'm hitting 1300 hs. With a 600kv motor you will be very close to 1300hs. Turboomni is right, with 600 blades and 600kv motor you are looking at the range above 1500 hs. I do have a trex 600 with a hs of 1050 rpm but i had to go with a 4 blade main rotor running 4 600mm blades and a 500kv motor

Just for an example I have a Align 550 Pro Dfc. I also have a 112t main and ran a 1220 kv motor. With a 10t pinion and alittle less throttle I was running abit over 2000 head speed instead of 2400+ with the original pinion. Although I haven't tried it yet but it is ready to go I have installed a 850kv Align motor. This was the original motor the kit came with. It was supposed to run a [gulp] 16T [included] pinion to make 2500+. I decided to see on head speed calculators how low I could go with different pinions staying at 100% throttle. I will be starting with an 11t pinion [now installed] which will give me an average of 1800 head speed. If good I may go to a 10t which will dip it down to the 1650 1700 area.
I was getting 7 minute flights with the high kv motor at 2000 head speed instead of 4 to 5 minutes with the original 12t pinion. I hope to get a little more than that with the lower kv motor and still have it lively. I can't imagine going lower than 1700 head speed on 550 main blades, but I can still go to 600 if I need to. Not to hijack the thread,I was just giving an example.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Rc trooper can you please give me a brand for the 560kv motor. Not looking to drop a lot in this heli. Will this fit in the OEM motor mount?

Turbo, not wanting to hijack the thread either, just thinking along your
same lines.

My Logo500se w. 1100 motor on 6s is running lot more rpms than I really want anymore, and is really kind of stressing the packs by the 7m mark.
And that is w. a lower pinion that even most guys run on these. Could either go another tooth down yet, or move to a 530kv hacker I have had
stored away, and play around w. cell count. That is on 600-620 blades.

Running those 6s packs in the 700s and getting 10-12 of great all around
flying, and STILL everything is staying nice and cool, and then using those
same packs in the 500se for about half that time and coming down fairly warm and well down on voltage, (compared to the 700 flights), is definitely
getting old.

Did I mention I think I am becoming a LHS addict?

Most certainly, If you can find a Hyperion HS 4035 560kv motor should be very affordable. I was told or read that these are made by Scorpion. Also Phoenix Tech motors are fairly cheap and decent, in my opinion. As far as fitting, you may have to modified the frames as to open up clearance on an esp airframe. The motor mount will do fine. My trex frames are actually trex 600 Nitros converted to electric by just adding the motor mount. The nitro airframes have a wider frame where the nitro engine fits as compared to the EP airframe

Appears it is a 12s setup. Maybe I'm wrong on this.

I run a Scorpion 560kv motor on my Align 700 V2. It is a motor for 12 cell and I run it on 6 cell. I get a 1300 to 1400 head speed at 100% throttle with a 112 main and I think a 11t pinion,,,I forget exactly.

any motor in the 500kv range will be listed as 12s but can be run on 6s. my understanding is that you can run lower cells but not higher...

Nice motor ,,I like mine! Keep us posted Spooled700!!
My 700 fly's really nice with that motor on 6s. If it fits get an adjustable motor mount so you can play with different pinions.

My Low Head Speed 700 with the Scorpion 560kv motor is a dedicated machine meaning I can not run 12s as I use a Talon 90 which can use 6s max. It is lighter than a 12s esc,,but doubt that is perceptible to the pilot.
