I finally came across a decent Tri Star which was my first heli in 1976. The model is assembled but appears to be missing a couple of parts such as the starting cone, cooling fan, paddles, and maybe some other bits and pieces. I would like to restore it to flying condition but my memory isn't as good as it used to be so a set of instruction photos would be great. I have a copy of the assembly manual but it's in text only and not much help. I wouldn't mind having a few spare support parts as well and would be interested in almost anything as long as it was in good shape. PM or email me if you have anything available. Thanks

Hi Larry,

That would be fantastic. My memory isn't what it used to be and I'm having to revert to pictures for anything to make sense. I'll give you a shout as soon as I get the photos and we can go from there.

Thanks again

DuBro Tristar manual
Greetings v22chap (alias Larry C):

If you still have a copy of the Tristar manual, I would greatly appreciate obtaining a copy either via e-mail or snail mail (for which I'll gladly pay).

Having owned a Tristar back around 1978, I recently obtained one from an eBay auction, but it did not include the manual. I wrote to DuBro yesterday, but they claim to not have an old copy.

Thank you.

Yes!!! If anyone could turn up an uncut, undamaged, un fooled with canopy I could make some new ones in clear .040 Thou with a gluing flange instead of the side by side gluing seam. They would easy to assemble and the flange would be easy to sand and the finished canopy would be strong. I have one in the works (long term) for the American Revolution .40

Tri Star
Did you ever get a copy of an instruction manual? I might have an extra. Are you looking for the manual or the one page exploded view thingie or both?

Also, I have a new Scorpion canopy but it has been cut and I believe that it is distorted as it was in the DuBro TriStar box with the frame set and the pressure distorted it. The plastic in those were very thin and fragile and they don't hold up well.

Hand made TriStar Scorpion canopy completed
I just finished making my own TriStar canopy via a primitive 2-side plaster mother mold. Canopy halves themselves are laid (lite) glass cloth and several layers of fiberglass resin. Once both sides of have dried, the two sides are removed from their mother molds, joined together, then a ton of sanding, filling, more sanding, a few coats of paint, and it's done.. Kinda heavy, but I'll just lessen the led weight that has to go on the Tri Star nose in order to properly balance.

Anybody producing and making available plastic TriStar canopies?

Thanks Larry. It's too bad that my accident got in the way and I've lost 6 years of my life trying to get back to a partial state of normal. I really appreciate the confidence that the members of RR have in me. When I do get back on my feet I've got some new molds that you guys might like. A few them are MFA Sport 500, GMP Competitor with tail section, American RC Mantis, Robbe Futura Sport, Dubro 505, and various fan shrouds that go with some of the above. I'll be working on the mold for a DuBro Tri Star thanks to Helitoyz and time permitting a mold for the American RC Revolution 40.

Thanks to you guys for not forgetting about me.
