I've only used BeastX and GT5.2 and honestly I think the Ace manual needed a few more pages.
Their translation to English was sketchy, too.
They use different words to describe the same thing.
Good side is it really works nice. No querks, no glicks.

Thumbs up for them both.

I used a beastx took for ever !! Then I got the jr tags 01. It's a little bigger and you have to have a reciver but set up is on one page then you can fly!
And if you want to dig in you can adjust all the Gaines and tail comp with the G TUNE Program .

"Go fly" has a different meaning for each of those.. Is that the Skookum 720 with self level? I have setup a Skookum 540 and don't recall it taking any longer than other gyros. You also need to add a multiplier to the 3GX because I have had to do setups several times for the thing to take the settings properly. I have used beastx and currently run vbars on my helis.

It is an interesting observation, but if someone is in a rush to get a new heli in the air they need to stick to the micros. This will be much safer for them and all others they are flying around. Maybe they should buy a plane??

Always do preflight checks and if something isn't right, go over the setup again! I would much rather spend time going through the steps than picking up pieces on the field because I did something incorrectly. Once you go through them carefully, if there is an issue you usually know which step to jump to and fix the problem. Set it up right and go have some good safe fun.

It sounds like you've never used a Skookum WC.
There are more steps only because they are broken down to smaller steps and instructions.
For example, "plug in the gyro" is one step. Then, many of the steps are just brief descriptions.
Some people actually find this easier and more difficult to make a mistake or miss something as they don't have to hunt around the screen or come on a forum with questions.
Once you've gone through the wizard, most people can just set up the parameters without even running the wizard again...which is just 9 tabs to set up (7 if you don't use banks).

The way I see it, you're ultimately setting the same thing for all of them. Not much difference in reality.

Nice long video.. I recall setting that up and as BobOD states, many of the steps are just simple tasks spelled out for those new to setting up FBL gyros. It didn't take me very much longer than any other gyro. I liked the way the Skookum flew, but when I had it there were issues running DSMX. Skookum does have a greak wiki that you can use to optimize performance. The one I have wasted the most time on is the 3GX..I would go through the entire setup and then something would not be right!! It was around the 1st part of last year when I gave up on it, so maybe it has improved.

Wc, while the VBar Setup Menu has the "tabs" for setting its parameters, there are a myriad of "sub-tabs with the Pro vs.

The more parameters that the user can trim, the better...

Have become accustomed to the VBar Menu.

Nothing's "easy"....one has to spend the time to learn the GUI, as each differs....

At least they have GUIs...hate deciphering blinking lights....

What's the setup rush?

Are you kidding? I once timed myself setting up an AR7200BX and I think it took me 6 minutes!

Once you have setup 1 BeastX there are only 14 steps to set one up from scratch and all you need is the quick setup card/sheet.

At the end of the day it's what you are used to.
60% of the time, it works every time!

Honestly, Ive had beastx, Vbar, skookum, and by far, hands down, the spartan system is the easiest to use, setup .

As I said you only need to read the manual once and you quickly realise you don't need to read it all and the steps only go from A though to N.60% of the time, it works every time!

You're right. They are all somewhat complicated. Whenever I change fbl systems, I like to have someone familiar with the new system check my work for errors. Always helps to have someone who has gone through the learning curve give it a once over before the maiden.

Geez, you guys make it sound like you buy and build new helis on a weekly basis.

Setups can be a pain, but is setup time really that important? How frequently do you all change FBL units? Once a month? Once a year?
