I found several problems with the kit I do want to point out that I have a first batch kit and Small issues are too be expected.

Frame holes not lining up with plastic battery tray. I had to sand the frame edges in a few places and slightly enlarge a few frame holes.

Cyclic servo geometry. I had to shim each servo 1.38 mm (=4 M2 washers per screw 16per servo) to get the cyclic to swash links straight up and down with BOTH the plastic and aluminum servo supports.

Tail servo needs to be shimmed as well so that the pushrod dosent grind into the tail boom. They sell shims for this although you definitely want to do this before you put both frame plates together it will be much easier

For the final issue and the one that personally upsets me is the cheaper button head cap screw's for the frame and servos ( We all know how big a pain it is to have a stripped head on a screw of such importance I ordered the socket head M2 for the servos and socket head M2.5 and nice orange aluminum washers for the frame looks great and maintenance will now be easier
Hope this helps.

The Goblin 380 is an amazing flying helicopter that is extremely diverse! You can fly slow relaxing low HS flights or crank it up and fly faster and harder than any helicopter in its class. Very responsive fly's like it's on rails

No you don't. Just flip the ball to the inside of the servo horn. You get a perfectly straight shot to the tail this way. I really don't know why SAB didn't specify it this way in the first place. The way it is shown in the manual places the pushrod WAY too close to the tail boom.

I actually tried and the ball hit the servo so in some cases it's not going to work. Differences in servo horns and servos I'm sure

Yup same only rear hole though also my batt tray seems to be distorted in the blind nut area for that frame hole n landing gear blind nuts

Also had 1 bearing wouldn't slide into the radis arm which I had to open up all other 7 slid great

Hope fully no more to follow small problems so far

Well today excitement is same as you all servo geometry is off using the bk servo arms ?? Are the sab arms thicker I am about 1.6 mm off on all 3 servos using the bk 3001hv I am using the aluminum servo mounts ??

Also found out you have to run the wiring In-between the mount & main shaft bearing holder Before bolting down the servo mount. Because the space is to tight for the 3 pin connector and if u mount the servo u can't get to the mount bolt. So place the servo wire bolt down the servo mount then mount servo

I ve also noticed they supply good hardware with some form of lube to prevent rust. Which could interfere with the 243 blue locktite so we use to dip the tip of hardware in cleaner I prefer gas but only the threads as u don't want the heads rusting. Then spin on a paper towel n dip threads of said bolt into locktite. Just a heads up not knocking the stuff just want to prevent the rust inhibitor from alloying the locktite to hold

ALSO for those who have not yet did the boom install yet, make sure to use a piece of scotch tape and stick where the double face tape goes and remove the primer coat on the inside of the boom none of my tape stuck, even after cleaning with alcohol. When tiring to put my screws in, the slightest pressure separated the tape from the boom and then the nut holders fell off and wasted my tape . I had to replace with 3m VXB tape witch is better. Wish the manual would have told us to remove the primer coat why primer the inside of the boom SO add a step to insure the double faced tape has a good surface to adhere too , very simple use scotch tape or masking tape and stick and remove the primer

ok got to the canopy mounting and i trimmed like 5mm off the rt side anti rotation bracket and its still rubbing i opened the holes and they were right on the $ but i cant get the anti-rotation bracket opening open enough with out taking 2cm material off so i an gonna leave it alone and just skip the edge guard in that notch but i ll run it around the circle and to the back. wish i dint have to mess with the canopy at all no reaming or trimming. Fiberglass and gel coat and paint are very hard to work with with out damaging it

Eric,

I had no issues with the BK servo arms, everything lines up vertically. I also think the tail rod is fine, although I mounted my servo with the rubber grommets so maybe that's why? Probably not necessary.

Ditto on the boom tape though--I noticed when I was done that my tail shaft had some play between the bearings, so when I went to take this apart (easily fixed with an extra main spindle shim) I was disappointed to find the little blocks and tape fell right out of the boom. Not hard to get lined up again though, but currently I don't think my tape is doing anything other than serving as a cushion rather than adhesive.

I also had to slot the holes for the bottom/rear frame holes, and file the frames a bit down there as well.

Otherwise went together great!

Well today's excursion was adding the quick release in let me tell you I hate putting ec3 connectors into connector housings it was a mother humper to get the batt into the connector housing it says just heat the plastic housing then insert well I got the neg in ok but the other one just wouldn't go finally snip some of the housing after the screw drive went through it n got the pliers to hold while using a press with my arm pit pushing what a PiA and I thought the blue housing was a pain they slide in them compared to trying to put a 6"fire house up a bull arse. If my next batt goes this rough I ll b switching out the quick release for some castle bullets n plug in the old fashion way well now I got to get moving on setting up my mini tags n get some blades on and fly wish I could fly this wkend but family trip to Long Island is taking me away well all enjoy the awesome flying weather here on the Mid East coast I ll be sitting on the southern state parking lot in bumper to bumper traffic. Wondering why they call a free way ?? I ll be jealous of all you guys flying stay away from the terra ferma

Well there you have it Im 2/2 broken batt connectors
wtf I hate connectors that don't work. I had a hell of a time getting the + wire of my first batt into the connector so got my second batt yesterday n today in trying to add the quick disconnect got the wire cut preped n this time I figured while the ec3 was still hot try and slide it in wont go. N this is neg wire didn't even get to +. All the directions say is to heat the connector housing which I ve tried ??? I should have stuck to the cc bullets with heat shrink the kit cost so much but time savings are now lost over the old fashion way so save ur time n $

And who else wants the tail belt guides ?? Have they ever been in stock ?? I want some for my maiden as I can see the wiring n belt to close for my liking ??

hmmm... I had no problem with my quick disconnect connectors. Yeah, they're a PIA, but I'll bet I'll be glad I have them.
I just chucked them in a vice and hit them with a heat gun while applying slight pressure on the "bullet" until it popped into the housing.

Finally got the second batt lead in the connector heat to point of distortion then hit with dead blow hammer. Think it would have been easier to make two halves. Same as the other connector u are still screwing it down simple as two more nuts ?? Maybe the next kit they can do it with ??

How about the other upgrades

I thought the same thing.... why not half it like the other side.
But.... I did the heating with my monokote heat gun and didn't have to heat it much at all for the bullets to snap into place. I just kept slow heat on it while pressing on the backside like an EC3 until it popped. I was rather surprised.... I tried it cold and there was no way that was happening. I could have hit it with a sledgehammer.

Well just as I said I looked into making my own and found out those holes in the main support that look like the belt guide holes ARE NOT threaded as I thought they were maybe why they have not made these ?? Unless they plan to use a pem stud n but to hold it or send a tap for every one to tap their own threads ??
