Hey...it just dawned on me that after dozens of installs and upgrades and downloads and even two or three DVD copies...my USB dongle is eight years old and has been used on every flight

I literally never use the word literally right.

I think wherever you have it installed, it saves your customizations in the Documents Library on whatever drive you have the operating system on. You need to back up those files before you wipe any drive.
If you do have an image of that drive, browse to C:\Users\"yourusername"\My Documents
This is where Libraries\Documents is saved. (Windows way of making it difficult for you to find important files )
You will find the Phoenix folders in there.

Didn't have what?
Phoenix was installed for the first time in 2007.
The USB dongle I have came with the copy I bought from Horizon Hobbies back then.

No...wait...the 2007 date is on a file that may not be Phoenix. It's a program that Phoenix uses.

Not super sure how old it is then but it is in the ballpark of 2007-2009.
