I formatted my SSD and did a clean install of Windows 7 because Windows 10 is just too glitchy right now. Maybe next year.

I moved my sim to my HDD before the format but for some reason, something is still missing and it won't launch.

What do I keep missing when I copy my sim?
I thought I got it all.

The registry entries, I think.

You'll have perform a fresh SIM install.

It's installed and now updating to 5.0v

I hope my variants survived.

Think you'll be OK.

The registry contains "stuff" that's referred to by the OS when you start up the SIM.

Can you see your variant files?

No variants.
No controller.

Just got the controller set up again. Wireless Simstick.

It even said another installation was detected when I installed it off the disk.
It said the older version would be upgraded.

I wonder if I copied the older copy I had that gave me problems last time?

Whatever.lol...
Should be a lot easier to tweak this time since I kinda remember most of the numbers.

12.5 pounds
75% hover stability
11 degrees pitch
250 degree per second piro

etc etc etc

Look in Libraries/documents

There are a few folders that contain your tx setup information and model and flying site information. Most programs are storing user defined data here these days.

Libraries/Documents is on the SSD.
It only has stuff I installed after the format.

There is a copy of Phoenix from 2007 and one from April 2014 on the HDD but if I open either of them,it launches the copy I installed tonight.

I think I killed it.
No biggie...almost got the new one dialed in now.

I'm going to install it from the disk again on the HDD and set up two identical copies.

The new install does look good on this new computer though.

Got the graphics and everything maxed out and the new graphics card never gets to 20% usage. Fan never even comes on.
I guess Phoenix is a small and slow program compared to Call of Duty or Battlefield 4.

Would be cool to have a sim with the kind of power some new games have.

I'm going to clone the SSD on my HDD this time.

This last time I installed the OS,I got a very strange anomaly.
It was booting up and you know how they switch from monitor to monitor as it installs drivers and such...it always defaults to the best monitor unless told otherwise.

But anyway...when the install was 100% complete,I signed in and was pecking away on Windows 7 setting my preferences and screensavers and whatnot.

I spun around in my chair to look at the resolution on the 52 inch wall monitor and it had Windows 10 on it.
I about gave myself whiplash looking from one screen to the other.
I eased the cursor over to Windows 10 and opened a couple programs and sure enough...they worked and were running on Windows 10.

So I now have two operating systems running simultaneously on one machine on two monitors.

First restart and that was gone...Windows 7 all around.

There is an old clone of my OS on the secondary HDD...It must have been running somehow but I can't get it to do it again.
It will only boot one system at a time now.

Sorry...That's a story for a whole 'nother forum

This probably should be moved to off topics anyway.

That's the odd thing.
I have an image from the day before the format and Phoenix is not on it.

Everything else is there.
Is there a copy blocker in Phoenix? I have had tons of trouble trying to copy it before.

Phoenix is on my C drive,D drive and E drive.
Every single one of them I open launches tonight's install.

copy blocker
Didn't consider that...but if you have a "registered" copy, shouldn't be an issue.

I bought it in 2007.
Don't know if it's registered.
I'll have to dig around.
