So today a minute into my first flight of the day, I start hearing a horrible grinding noise, so I land quickly and here's what it was:

The gear blew up! Luckily it kept a few teeth so it was still being driven, lucky!

Anybody else had a problem like this? I love the way this bird flies, but I've really had a lot of problems with mine. KDS helped a lot with one problem and I'm really grateful, but I'm still eating belts regularly. I know the big belt kits out now, but ouch, $200 more for it! At this point I'm pretty darn frustrated with this bird!

I have close to 300 flights on mine 1 year on a half several crashes on it and keep going.

200 seems fair for 2 sets of frames, pinion, pulley and bel.

I'm getting one soon.

Ok, so I guess I'm just cursed..

200 wouldn't seem bad if it was to make the Heli better, but with all the belt problems I've had and others, it seems a bit much just to get the Heli to fly reliably. Like I said though, I like the way the Heli flys a lot, and I love KDS customer support, so I'll stick with it. I've had too much good luck lately, I was overdue for a rough patch.

One thing I noticed when got the new tail gear is that the old one seemed to be of a different material. It was a much whiter plastic material. The new gear isnt as white. Was there a change in the material?

Gear had no more than 50 flights on it. For some reason, to me, it looked brittle. The new gear looks a bit better.

I had a lot of vibe problems on this bird before due to head issues, but got that fixed. Maybe the problem with the gear started then? The Vbar log now shows it to be one of the smoothest heli's I've flown.

I'm still pretty frustrated with this heli at the moment. I fixed the tail gear, but I'm still blowing belts like crazy. I can't get more than 5 flights out of belt. Don't know what else I can do.

I throw the heli pretty decently but I'm no 3d god!

How tight should the belt be? If I make it any tighter it places a good bit of drag on the motor.

Ok. I'll try it even tighter. Thanks. It's going to be awhile before I can try it though. I'll let you know eventually.

I'm gonna do the big belt too I think.

Could you tell me what issues you had with the Agile 7.2 head.
Have not been able to pinpoint a vibration issue with my heli.
It is a new heli. Have already balanced main and tail blades and replace tail shaft, tail hub and torque tube. Still the tail fin is buzzing. Gear mesh on torque tube gears is perfect.

The tail fin is vibrating and you can feel the vibrations in the boom

My problem was two fold, somebody else built the Heli and used a slightly too long screw on the pitch arm, if you've noticed that screw hole is positioned so that when you remove the screw you can oil the thrust bearing. I think the longer screw was slightly interfering with the thrust bearing. 2nd problem was that the spindle has to have zero play back and forth, to the point that it feels almost too tight under no load, so in other words I had to put more shims in the spindle between the grips and the dampers, even thought it felt tight before the shims. That took care of the vibes, smooth as a babies butt now... Just eating belts!

ok has this heli been thru a crash?? have you went thru the tail box real good..look for bearings the tail spindle, sounds like its coming from the tail area if you said you replaced the TT the it must be on the tail

Oh, And I did run the Vbar spectrum analyzer on my problem and it clearly showed my vibe was at the head frequency, even though in flight all could see was a fin buzz like you were describing!
