Did you even look at the picture you used in the quote?
The heli is on this side of the van...so is the passerby.
It is DIRECTLY over his head.
Look again.
Those two pix are less than a second apart. As fast as I could double tap the hot key.
Actually about a second and a half...look at the time index on the video...bottom left.
Seriously...I can see all the cars a couple cars down the line but I don't see the passerby because he's blocked by Duncan's head...like the van and the car beside it.
Think about it. If he was behind any other car besides the van or wagon beside it...you would be able to see him. You can't soooo....Where is he?
He is still by the other car, watch the video as a whole not just grabbing what you want to see. This one is right in between the two you took, and the guy is still by the station wagon.

Your grab is just as bad if not worse.lol...

It is what it is. He flew at the guy and over him.
There's no defense for it. It was stupid.

In your pic, the one that you said it was above him, where you see the bag on the left of his head. That would mean he was still farther away from the van, than in the one I just put up. In mine, it is when he is already bringing it back away from the guy, not waiting for him to walk under it.

The heli was 10-15 feet from the guy whether it was perfectly over his head or not.
He went that direction twice and had to have seen the guy both times.

Why are you even defending such a reckless act?
Who are you anyway?

He clearly did see him, which is why he pulled back. Watch the shadow of the heli, if you want even more proof. The sun is directly behind them, the shadow of the vehicles runs perfectly down the rear bumpers. The heli never gets that far over, you can still see it probably 5-10 feet to the left of the vehicle shadows.

I'm not defending it, some of you are seeing more than is there. Like others have said replace him with pilot A or pilot B, and sides would probably be flipped.

Would I do it personally? No, but do I see what he did as anything more than the equivalent of me hovering 10-15 feet in front of me when someone walking by stops to watch me, not really.

Same here, I'm definitely no where near his level, and in my example of someone stopping to watch when I'm flying, I dial it down or fly further out. Dumb thumbs is still a legitimate risk for me. I would venture to say that's not the case for him, but even still (from what I saw, but opinions and all they say about them, applies here) he dialed it back like any of us would when it is needed.

That leaves the majority of the danger from a mechanical/electrical failure, in which case, given the right set of circumstances, someone or something no where near that parking lot could have been injured/damaged. Same as if he were at a field, and it flew off out of control, landing hitting someone/something not on the property.

Come on man, it's a shopping mall!!! Everyone with a pulse knows this is wrong. Us guys at the field and this situation have no similarity.

His "handlers" need a serious talking too. When you are visiting a foreign country this could be considered poor judgement all round.

It doesn't matter what level skill you have you shouldn't be flying there period.

LOL you can't be serious, you seem to forget we are humans.

We would call that an accident buddy. Can you do the same if something or someone had a collision with the heli in this scenario?

Yes there are ways to reduce accidents but accidents still happen! I think some of you guys should stay safely tucked up in bed incase you trip over and get maimed!

My flying insurance covers 3rd party for 15 million GBP. FYI.

What about the guys bashing 1/5 scale rc cars around in public places that could break your leg or even worse to a small child, no one bats an eye lid!

Don't point to something else to say it is more risky as a justification for this stupid act of flying. If both are wrong, then both are wrong. Hey watch this..... (stupid act to follow). Just admit that it was a poor choice of a location to fly, move on, and don't do it again.

i cant belive 4 pages of crap on this subject, this is the type of crap that gose on on them other sites ,a useless arguement ,,
i mean hes a pro , factory guy,, where he chooses to fly is on him ,, if he flys where "we" think it isnt safe , well who are we to tell him what he can and can not do? if it was that unsafe , then the companys would drop him for not promoting the hobbie in a safe manner,, again , this is there choice not ours, , and unless you were there and saw the angles i dont wanna hear it! was it the best place to fly ? no, could someone got hurt? yea , did they? no , we could say what if to almost anything we do in life, i say if you guys wanna beat a dead horse go to that heli "whore" site and waste that space,

going pro , one crash at a time

Well said flyboy!

Yes he could have picked a safer location but my god, he's the best rc heli pilot in the world and we all like the guy, let's not give him a bad name all of a sudden!

They are right. He is the best RC pilot in the world, and it is his right to fly like a moron in a stupid location if he wants.

We should all be happy for him.
