I downloaded and installed the castle link software on two separate laptops running windows 7. Neither install asked for drivers specifically to be installed.

I am following the sequence from the website and the instructions that came with the speed controller. Power up the laptop, start the software, connect a USB cable, connect the castle link. I do show a greenlight saying that castle link USB is connected. I then turned on my radio, then power up the BEC / regulator to initialize the Gyro. I then unplug from the gyro and plug-in the ESC lead into the castle link then connect the flight battery. Within a second or two I do get the greenlight saying that castle link is connected and it does show the several tabs to display my settings.

But it only displays the tabs and my settings for several seconds? maybe 10 to 20 seconds at best. Watching the light on the castle link it has a fast flickering light and then the castle link starts to flash slowly before it unlink's itself and goes back to the instructions on how to connect.

I have followed the directions from the FAQs on running the software as an administrator and I have also tried to let the software update the drivers but in looking for the driver it does not display in device manager.

Will be making a call to Castle creations tomorrow to see if they can help unless someone here knows what I can do.

Help!

Just for grins, I installed the software on my desktop computer and it did load the drivers with a confirmation screen while doing so. I was able to connect to it and look at the settings. However, after less than a minute the LED starting flashing and it disconnected. Maybe the castle link is bad? Who knows....

Try just plugging in the esc don't power up Heli or any thing just unplug esc from Rx n plug into the cc link. Then add flight pack to esc pwr u might be confusing the esc by powering and or arming then removing Rx supply, while flight pack connected ??

Agreed!
I only plug in the link and power the esc...no RX power or TX needed.

Ok, tried that today and although it did connect it still, after 10-20 seconds will disconnect. I made a call to CC support, they believe the link may be getting hot "flaw" and causing this. They recommended I see if a buddy has one that they know works and try it. I just tried one from a buddy and it's doing the same thing. Will be making another call tomorrow to see what can be done. Confused....

Castle is junk! You need to buy Align. That would fix your problem.

JUST KIDDING!

Sorry, should have said what ESC. It is the ICE 120 HV. It requires at least 12v power to use the castle link.

I've had the issue you are describing using a usb 3.0 port, even hosed a link trying to update the firmware before I realised the issue.

We made up some rules can we have your moneys now.

Hope that's all it is and not a damaged ESC. I have older laptops (not new) which I believe use USB 2.0.

On my desktop I had to run an extension from a 2.0 port on the back since both front ports are 3.0 and disconnect after 20-30 seconds. My laptop has both ports but I haven't been brave enough to try the 3.0 ports on it.

More troubles today with this ESC. The castle link was able to connect as it has been but only for a few seconds. It then started to connect and reconnect every second or so. It appears that my programming has been wiped out because there is no soft start any longer and the throttle limits have changed.

It also has a scary glitch to it now that I haven't seen before. While armed and sitting in the ground it wants to hard start but only for a brief moment, like it jumps on its own. When that happened I disconnected the ESC and put it in a box to send to Castle Monday morning.

Arghh....

Yea, I don't expect issues, heard nothing but good things from them. Just my OCD forces me to document everything. If anything it sure helps with troubleshooting and hopefully helps someone else out with similar issues.

Thanks....

I never got such quick service...
I have to drive 15 minutes to get my stuff replaced!

They don't jerk you around...if it don't work - they just replace it, and don't ask questions later!
