Flybarless conversion recomendations. Raptor 50 and X50.
Hi Gents, I am thinking of doing my first FBL conversion starting with either an old Rappy 50 or the X50.

What is the best or best bang for the buck for FBL head and gyro for the converson?

TT makes a conversion kit for each (if you can find it).

Some folks use RJX or TracX heads.

I have a Robird FBL unit on mine, with the TT FBL head.

If you can find the TT head in stock it is very nice. When you order it though see if you can get spare feathering shafts and radial bearings as they are a bit odd with a 7mm ID instead of 8 like most of the competition.

Failing that the RJX head is pretty good. The quality is not as good as the TT one but should be half the price or better.

I just had a quick look for both heads. i was not able to find a TT head in stock, but i was able to find an RJX head. Nice that it fits other helis now that TT is discontinuing my favorite toy. I imagine RJX would be better for parts going forward too...

One thing I did find with the RJX head and that is the rod ends are not of the highest quality and they did wear quite quickly, so keep an eye on them.

You might want to get rod ends and rods from say Mikado or TT as they will last a very long time without wearing out.

That is welcome news. Just to clarify - Do you mean the rappy kits or just the FBL head is not discontinued?

Thanks.

Parts are good for sure, and according to the Thunder Tiger website the Raptors, X50F, and G4.1 are still available, just not in the states. May want to contact them directly.E820, Raptor G4N, X50F/E, E620, Forza 450, and some planks.

I used an Outrage 50 fbl head and beastx on my old Rappy and it worked awesome. Of course Outrage is a thing of the past but any 50 size fbl head will work.

part out and move on
I'm raptor guy, but I'd save one engine, receiver & servos, blades
part out the 2 airframes and move on to one of these,
Trajectory is a licensed rebranded BeastX fbl unit.

I went through the same thing not too long ago. I tried everyone and could not find the TT head. I finally go so frustrated I sold the heli since it was the only .50 sized heli I owned. There are plenty of Raptor FBL's out there for sale pretty cheap, you might do better putting yours on Ebay and buying one of those if you really want to keep a Raptor. I do have an RJX Head on my Spectra and it is not a bad head. The workmanship shows that the quality is not up to most factory units. I put an X-Cell head on my Fury awhile back and the quality is much nicer. The RJX head was only like $90 though...hard to beat.Team Synergy, Team Scorpion, No good deed goes unpunished
