A lot of hating going on. Here's the reality of it. Whether you like his particular style or not, he is a better pilot than the vast majority of people. I say that in reference to shear control. Others may put on more fluid routines with more variety but I doubt very many of the other pros could replicate this video. As far as his ability, no amount of time or money makes up for natural ability. The tired trope of "if you just try hard enough you can do anything" is nonsense and comes from the generation of people who got awards for showing up and breathing when they were kids. Some people are awesome basketball players, some people just rock it as doctors or lawyers or whatever. Other people pour buckets of money and time into something and achieve mediocrity. And don't pull out that nonsense about anyone can do anything if they put 10,000 hours into it. It's nonsense that can't be proven repeatedly but keeps being perpetrated by people who don't want to admit they aren't any more special than the rest of us schlubs.

Why hate on Tareq, it's pointless and makes you look small. Better to just watch and enjoy and maybe be inspired to try cool new stuff.

There was only one comment that was slightly neg... if you took my comment to be negative, then you are really wrong... so where is all this negative hating of which you speak?

Did you not mean tripe instead of trope?

I think he meant trope
TROPE:

a figurative or metaphorical use of a word or expression.
Basically it means cliche.

I think he's mainly retorting icanfly, not you, who suggests that we'd all be Tareq with enough practice.

There's a trope/cliche that all you need is 10,000 hours of practice at a thing and you will master it. No verifiable truth in that. Like, hello, I could play basketball 20,000 hours and never be in the NBA. Sure, I'd be better at it, but no expert would I be. The 10,000 hours to mastery is a trope/cliche born of a book, but has little basis in reality. It is more likely that 10,000 hours practice is necessary, but not sufficient, for mastery, if that makes sense.

It's like saying we only use 10% of our brain. You state a thing with enough authority and people believe it...except there's no truth in 90% of our brain going unused, despite the repetition/authority stating such...Fact is, we use all of our brain, and yet somehow that trope/cliche still exists.

Natural talent comes in at some point and different people have different potentials. 10,000 hours and I will be no Tareq. Just better than I am now. But there will come a point where I've reached my full potential and extra hours will yield no further gains. It's just reality. And we all know that's the truth if you think of it hard enough.

You and me both...they don't call me the tree trimmer at my field for nothing.

Tareq only holds the TX for show!

I'm convinced that he and the heli truly have a Vulcan Mind Meld!

that last vid of Tareq pg2, was much MUCH better, man's got some mad skill for sure and certainly put the bird to risk.

If you set your pitch curves at 0, 0, 50, 100, 100, without dead band at center stick you'll get some mad cyclic speed no doubt, lol. You could go with negative expo too, - or + you'll know when just a hair of movement sends the servos all the way to one end or the other, lol, try that. Call it "Crack" heli flying.

forgot to add, flew my back yard bird around a tree between branches and garage roof top and another tree, came around and out only to go directly toward an apple tree, avoiding it and wind up under cutting some pine branches falling all around the heli while I keep the rpm up and fly out like an airborne whipper sniper, L, O,,,,,,L. fyi, the root word of "obstacles" is TACKLE, hehe.

Granted, it takes a ton of skill to do this. A skill set that I will never have or achieve. But please think about any and all ill consequences that could come from just this 1 flight.

Not hating here, not trying to be devils advocate, but just a realist.

If this video was made of ANY US flight team member of ANY manufacture, they would be stripped of their sponsorship, or at minimum they would be asked to remove any video with their trademark logo in the video. Any and if not all manufactures would feel shameful for such an act here in the USA.

Tareq, you are a badass pilot, but please think about the lives that could be at stake in making just short video.

XFC '05/'09 A/C pilot. Thanks to- Scorpion Power Systems and TailDraggerRC

We don't know that he didn't ensure this area was clear before flying. It could be his own property, for all we know. So I can't pass judgment. All we can do is bring concerns to light and hope others read them. Especially anyone who would replicate this on public land.

FWIW there were a rash of US Sponsored pilots posting inrresponsible videos a ways back. Created quite the hub bub here on RR which was probably more instrumental in stopping the videos than the company. And we still get questionable videos. So assume nothing with respect to how manufacturers handle videos.

I'd say he did make sure no one else was around - did you see anyone?

Any manufacturer should be proud to sponsor a pilot that could fly like Tareq - proving their product could perform like that - no way they would pull their sponsorship.
