Hi all,

Just in the process of building an Emax Nighthawk 250 FPV racer and decided to mount the orientation LEDs using plastic screw caps, which work remarkably well!!

Take a cap and cut off an appropriate cord one one side. Then drill the required screw holes and mount between the motor and the frame arm.

Then using a self adhesive LED strip, position and anchor it with heat shrink! The self adhesive glue isn't that strong and the LEDs aren't particularly water proof, but the heat shrink fixes both problems.

Blue at the front, read at the rear.

Also, as they are mounted in an arc on the ends of the motor arms you get excellent front, rear and side orientation with good front to back colour discrimination.

An effective and pleasing solution!

Nice job I like this did you use electronics to control the lights or just come on when li-po is connected

The world is round you can run but you will always end up where you started from

At the moment they just come on as soon as you connect the LiPo, although I did install an XT30 connector to isolate them.

Now that I'm used to the quad's orientation I'd probably not bother with LEDs unless I was planning to use it for night flying. They don't add much weight, but every little bit matters if you're into FPV racing!
