I just got in from flying first flight this yr on this Heli .. and my Heli would glitch on Aliron during a left hurican but not right ?? Dx9 - jr e6 550 Heli tags 01 all stock. 6s With about 40 flights - zero incidents.. Rec ant is pointing forward under the canopy and my sat is vertical on the left side of Heli just under the canopy . My first thought is to move the sat lower and out in the open ! Any thoughts

Do the SAT antennas have a clear view or is there a piece of CF in the way?

If you got 40 good flights with no glitching and you made no physical changes to the heli setup, then it isn't your sat placement. It would have been glitching from the start if that was the issue.

Hook your radio up to the sim and see if it glitches there. Watch the monitor page on the radio, too. I had almost the exact same problem on my old piece of crap DX8. It was a glitchy aileron pot and you could see it jumping around randomly (in my case it was only to the right) on the monitor page. Oh, and the DX8 has the exact same gimbals as the DX9, so don't think you're immune.

Was wondering about glitching myself, this day and age. 2.4 GHz systems usually don't do that - unless you have some weird failsafe stuff set up.

As mentioned, maybe a transmitter stick pot, perhaps something odd going on with a servo.

You can still experience glitches that aren't RF generated, although they feel just like it from the bad old 72MHz days. I just went through this with a certain type of servo that my FBL unit didn't like. The servos are fine, as is the FBL unit, but they just didn't play nice together.

Ok I'll check the pots out. Seems fine on all other left rolls and any left stick but it's not held there for long like during a hurican !
Thanks guys

Cobra 46, please let know what the issue was if/when you track it down. I'm interested to see if it's yet another data point demonstrating the ****ty plastic Spektrum gimbals seeing as I've had two failures in two different radios (DX8 and 9) of my own. Never again. There will NOT be a new Spektrum radio in my hands ever again and if another failure occurs in my current radios, both of them are GONE.

maybe a transmitter stick pot
I've had a "stick pot" wear out...and that's a good thing to check.

Might want to take off the TX back panel and look around for "chafed" stick pot wires, too.

A while back, JR had a warning on the 9303 TX's for gymbal wire chafing...I looked...and there was this problem just waiting to happen.

You can also swap AIL with PIT servo and see if the problem follows the servo.

That's a good idea from Pistol Pete. It's easy enough to do as another check.

Have you at least flown the TX on the sim (and watched the monitor page) to rule out glitching from a dirty pot or something?

I had a similar issue with my DX8, it first showed up while I was on the Sim but I didn't pay too much attention to it. Took my TDR to the field one day and 2 minutes into the flight it started doing the exact same thing as in the sim. Horizon hobby was kind enough to service the out of warranty TX for free. That could have gotten ugly for me. I'll say look if the issue happens while on the sim, it might not appear right away but if its the TX it will after a few minutes.
