Hello Guys need some verification as to how to properly wire my Western Robotics BEC to my castle Edge 160 HV.

I soldered the red and black wires coming from the WR BEC to the red and black wires coming out of the Castle ESC.

Plugged the slave and master wires from the BEC into to free slots on my IKON not the Bind plug.

**Plugged the wire coming from the Castle 160 EsC into the throttle channel on the Ikon ( Do I have to remove the red wire from this connection I saw that on a few of the illustrations ??)

Thanks in advance for your help I would hate to burn my electronics up.

You should be good. The red wire dosent have to be removed as there isn't an internal bec in the 160hv
I also don't think it hurts anything to remove it either so either way you should be good. I have not removed any of mine

The red wire has to stay intact on the HV opto ESCs that do not have a BEC.

Is the Edge opto isolated? I thought I recalled that they changed when they started the Edge series. I do know the Ice HVs were that way.

Also, are you powering the WR off 12s? I would look at the wiring diagram on the CC website. Now, I'm not disagreeing with Ladon, but that wiring manual specifically says do not disconnect the red wire.

The way you described, is running it off 12s and that has been proven in the past to cause problems. 6s is much easier on the WR.

Thank you for the replies once again, I am indeed running it off of 12s , reason I asked was actually because the BEC did feel a little bit warm to the touch after plugging it in. Although everything appeared to work as intended. I know the WR bec is capable of 12s , but is there a way to wire it to 6s as you suggested?

I did say I wouldnt remove it as there is no internal bec in the edge. I have seen where ppl did tho and why I don't know. Like I said all ours are hooked up. I think depending on which western robotics bec you have the 12s on them won't hurt anything. I was always under the impression the castle bec pro was 12s capable but it was way better off at 6s. Thing about hooking up 6s is make sure you wire it correctly and double check it. Pay close attention to castles wiring diagram. You can fry the esc if it is wrong. I know did 2 in one night before I found the problem. It will go instantly too no saving one. Pretty much why we went back to a reciever pack. Only way I would do a bec now is it has to be a good one and I would use it on 12s. Then it is pretty much fool proof.

CC recommended wiring for 6s is to tie the black wire to the negative (black ) wire coming out of the ESC, and tie the positive (red) wire to the other pin in that same plug.

That way, you can power up the WR before you power up the ESC and now have a throttle signal to the RX before the ESC is powered.

LaDon, I was just clarifying your statement that the red wire doesn't have to be removed. Castle is pretty adamant about not removing it.
