Looking at new servos for my swash. Im not clear on the newer Futaba servo lin. Can HV sbus 1 and or 2 servos workin a non sbus system? Is "programmability" on option with a non futaba radio?

Hey Frank,
SBUS servos are backwards compatible with any std servo system, but you can only use the SBUS functionality within an SBUS driven system (SBUS RX or SBUS decoder)

You can also program SV series high voltage SBus servos with the free computer program (digital dashboard) and then use them with the modified parameters with another receiver type.

So they have their own non volatile memory! mmm, good to know

Thanks Ben.

Does it require something like the ICU2 CIU-2 USB thingy?

I don't want to cause a radio war, but is there any real advantage of X-bus(JR) over S-bus (Futaba)? We are looking at X-bus for a B-17 bomber. I would appreciate replies that don't knock either system. Thx

I believe in principle, they both operate in similar fashion and have almost identical features / uses. The X-Bus Heavy Duty Dual Redundant Center Hub is a nice feature, I wish Futaba had something similar. Other than that, probably not any "real advantage" of one over the other.

Chago,

The ciu-2 along with an S.Bus hub or Y block are required.

Dr.Ben, By digital dashboard I believe you're referring to the Futaba S-Link application, correct?

Futaba S-Link Manual

@Frank Bostwick - I'm happy with the Futaba BLS272/276 HV servos I've been running.
