Gonna be running 10S on my X50EF. Who's getting 7/10 minutes; and what motors n pinions are we running considering a mixed bag of flying but primarily big air and precision hovering?

Eaton,

What are you planning to run for pack capacity?

What headspeed?

Need to know these things because they can affected predicted runtimes by a factor of two one direction or the other.

Dr. Ben figure 40C 4300-5000 10S. 1750-2100. I may not use the 630 we spoke of after all.

With a ~560kv 600/700 sized motor and the stock 15t pinion you should be able to govern it to ~2000-2100 no problem (lower if you have a good yge or kontronik esc). You should get ~8 minutes with 10s5000, or ~6 min with 10s4000 packs. Fly's nicer/lighter with 4000 packs imho. Actual times will vary depending on your flying style but this should get you in the right ballpark.

Interesting findings. What say you in regards to a 630KV motor?

Probably a 13t pinion with a 630kv motor.

Get a 13 tooth pinion, it's the smallest. The manual mentions a 12, but it's a lie (doesn't exist).

I run 12S, so this may or may not help.

I've flown mine maybe 5 times, but I'm getting 5 minute flights only using about 43% capacity. Should be able to get 8 minutes easy.

Eaton,

Go for either Don's 12S set up or use Tom's suggestion with something less than 5000 packs to save some weight. For what you told me about your power expectations, you'll be fine with a 4025 sized motor on 600 mm blades because my E620 is fine with a little Pyro 600 with 620's.

And an 80HV KT will also be plenty. My model is only 6S and still doing fine on only an 80HV. They're a dime a dozen used these days in the classifieds. Remember; equip for your needs and expectations and not the Joneses.

Actually it's a straight cut 0.8 mod.

Using about 73% for 8 minute flight times, setup detailed above.

Thanks Tom. I made the incorrect assumption that they were using mod 1 as with the 550/620.
