While flying my trex700 last week my rudder stick on my dx9 broke at the spring attachment point inside the tx. Didn't crash but it sure was a pucker moment.

Was it the stick or the spring attachment that broke?

If the stick, one heck of a save.

Yes the spring tension was all the way up. And yes it was where the spring attached

Mr. rcmiket please do not defend such things, it is inexcusable for such a thing to happen to any radio.

Although there has been a few issues that people have been having with the DX9, two friends had major issues with there's, where they failed within weeks after purchase.

rcmiket wasn't defending, anything mechanical, electrical, or structural will break eventually and any manufactured item will have some problems. This is an unbreakable rule of life.
Having the tension turned up all the way will make it break faster, and if you cranked on it just a little harder to get a little more tension that's even harder on it.
Defect? Maybe
Bad design? Probably not. If it was every one of them would be broken.
Call Horizon and have them look at it, get to the root of the problem before bashing.

I think engineers that designed it should have taken into consideration that some people might like the tension all the way up and made it strong enough to support handle that.

I still hear some people that have been in the hobby for much longer than I have tell the stories about "finding center" by completely removing the springs from the radio sticks.

So having a return spring break in flight although it will get your attention, is nothing to get too excited about in my book.

I had it happen with a *gasp* Futaba years ago. Not a unique occurance. Of course that radio had some miles on it. Stuff happens.

Sounds like you and your friends are rough on radios.

LOL, never rough on my radios, the other guys had bad batch or bad design DX9's. So please do not attack me, just stating what was...
