If I were to make a guess, I'd say it looks as if the LCD logic didn't initialize correctly. That may happen once in a blue moon, and generally a power cycle takes care of the problem.

Then to be told by Horizon Hobby UK that they have Never seen a screen issue before and that I bumped the radio was the final straw. The guy was actually damn rude.
That is a shame, definitely not your fault that it came out of the box this way.
I have always heard good things about HH service here in the US, it should be the same for you as well.

TX. should be repaired or replaced at no-charge.

You have heard good things about HH in the USA not necessarily in the UK.

Got a call today. The screen has been replaced and it's on it's way back to me. Hope it's good this time. Still not good for a brand new unit but I suppose it does happen.

Just want to add that Fastlad handled the problem brilliantly. Can't say the same for Horizon Hobby.

Just thought I'd give a quick update. The dx9 is working perfectly so far and I must say its a great radio to use when it works. On the down side the 9 channel rec that came with the Tx also had to be sent back as it's faulty. So much for quality control.

The 9020 requires 2 remotes for an initial connection. It will Bind and have a solid orange led but if its not seeing both remotes it will not Connect and allow the servos to function.

May have sent that back prematurely I had I bound with one sat rec connected. Didn't realize it had to have both connected for the servos to react.

The functional requirements of Spektrum receivers (at least with respect to if and how many remote receivers are required) should be specified in the receiver's user's guide. That would help alleviate many of these issues.

Good point. Feel like a bit of an ass sending it back. In fairness they could of asked the same on the phone when I was trouble shooting the rec. with the technical chap. He didn't mention that at all. I've actually sent it back with one remote connected. Feel like such an idiot now. Just wish I had known that before I sent it back.

Can I ask a question then. You have both sats hooked up flying the heli and a wire pulls out of one sat. Would you still have control?

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Yes you would. You only need the required number of sats for it to connect.

When in doubt, try it on the bench.

One other thing that you might be aware of, is that the channel diagram on that RX can be misleading. I thought that the channel listing on the row closest to the pins was for the top row of pins, but it was for the bottom row. I finally figured it out, but it wasn't an intuitive thing. I initially thought I had a bad RX also.

Turns out my rec was faulty after all. New one on the way. So faulty Tx and rec in the box. What are the chances?
