So, as all of the FBL sensors are getting better, what is the current thought regarding hard mounting and dampened mounting?

Which sensors get hard mounted?
(I know that CGY750 can be, and supposedly silver Vbar)

What kind of tapes are working best for hard mounting?

If a sensor is mounted with dampening, what tapes are currently producing the best results for most pilots?

I am trying to update a database that I started a long time ago.

Thanks for your insight.

I have almost completely switched over to the 3M gray tape for all my sensors, except for the Ikons, and I use the 3M clear tape on them.

Not much input coming in right now.
So, ok.
I will hard mount a futaba sensor with shoegoo and see how i does.
Then I will do the same with a Vbar silver sensor.

Then I can move on to the minivbar, Ebar v1, ebar v2, skookum 540 and whatever else I find laying around.

Lets see how they tolerate hard mounting and then will try the 3M tape (which seems to be the universal favorite in the industry).

Even if the sensors can handle a hard mount and perform well, constant over vibrations will eventually kill the sensor prematurely. Add a layer of tape, the grey 3m works great

I have 3m VHB tape on all of my helis. Some of them have been set up for 5+ years and the tape is still holding great with no gyro issues. I used it on plenty of nitros too without problems. Great stuff, I think our entire club uses it (at least the majority of members).
