Drones are getting popularity day by day. As their prices are cheap, easy to fly, carry camera etc.

Everyone knows that
hence the FAA actions & 'advertising' about policing
"The benefits of this type of aircraft are substantial and the FAA is committed to integrating UAS into the National Airspace System."

the problem with multirotors (drones) being involved with stupid behavior comes down to two things:

1.) price
2.) minimal skill required to fly

not much BS was happening using regular Helis or planks for that matter nor are they poping up in the news (thk GOD). I really belive that was due to the skill and money required to pilot them. But quads/FPV with thier price point and zero skill required has allowed them to get into the hands of those that cause problems.

just wait till one of these things causes a serious accident... then every gov agency that has 3 letter names will bring the whole hobby down.

I will add that alot of times cheap mutlirotors do indeed influence those to get further into the hobby... but it does not lead them to go fly Helis or planks... its to get a better Multi to do even more stupid stuff.

its jus too bad that those that have a legitimate use for mutlis will suffer along with them should something bad happen.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I'm sure they will....

But that article uses a photo of the most useless of quads...

I would expect CNN to have a DJI Octo...with both normal and IR cams...with all the available bells and whistles.

The HR article is written by ignorant people.....

This tech should be embraced...rather than scorned...

In a few years, I think most news media, including local, will use "drones" to provide aerial news coverage.

Very expensive to maintain "Chopper 5".

I can remember when 2 TV choppers collided...attempting to cover a story...

Drones...well, no one's on board...the total weight is 20lbs....less insurance.....same results in news coverage....

And....a new market for those each that can make/assy....and those that can fly them....responsibly...for a living.
