Did anyone see the last flyer emailed from HeliProz today? They're going out of business and everything in the store was marked off 50%. When I lived in Montana, HeliProz was like Mecca to me. I'd drive there twice a year just to walk in the store.

Our loss is your gain!!!! Time to get what you need now, you will never see this discount again-anywhere!

Send us a email at sales@heliproz if you can't find what you are looking for!

sad, worse yet they didnt have much of anything left in stock that was worth purchasing.

cheap imports have delt the final death blow to the hobby store.

either get with the fast and cheap stuff or die a slow death in this business.

I'm not saying the RC Heli industry is dead or dying, but several major manufactures and stores have closed shop over the last couple of years. When was the last time something significant and new was released, technology or design? I am neither for or against the multirotor trend. They're easy and fun, but my heart is loyal to the RC Heli.
For those of you who don't know me, I retired from the Air Force in 2013 and went back to school. I'm a business major with focus in acquisitions and contracts. I graduate in June 2015. I'd like to start my MBA right away. Of all the business classes I've taken, I can't see one thing in particular that is causing the decline of the RC Heli hobby. One business says it was the poor economy while another says they didn't jump on the multirotor bandwagon soon enough. How many years did it take Align to produce a multirotor while others were on their 2nd, 3rd, even 4th version of their original multirotor. I'm going to step on a soapbox for a moment and then jump right off it. Many people criticized Century for focusing on multirotors and taking some of the focus off helicopters. Century is still producing and selling helicopters and parts. Maybe not at the same level they were 4 to 5 years ago, but they were one of the early stores to see the multirotor potential. Now I'm jumping off the soapbox.
I wish the folks at Heliproz the best and thank them for years of service and enjoyment.

I always have fun. Some times are more fun than others.

Ted,

Honestly there have been ALOT of new technologies released lately, FBL controllers have now flooded the market, before that it was heading hold gyros, before that rate gyros. With GPS now common, soon helis will be doing 3D moves at a push of a button. Not to mention the availability of FPV.

people just cant afford to constanty dump money into the next best thing. good Pilots find something they like and tend to stick with it. So if they find a great heli that flies great, has great parts support thats what they keep...no need to buy another "just like it".

So its not any one particular issue like the economy, cheap imports, and new releases. its a combination of many factors, that also include fewer places to fly, fewer individuals interested in a hobby that requires both hand/eye coordination AND mechanical skills and understanding of the how and why of helis, plus money to spend on these items and the time to do it all.

Heliproz closed thier doors for the same reason many other hobby stores closed thier doors... it just wasn't manking enough $$$ to justify the day to day BS of running it.

RC helicopters are just not "IN" like they were 5 years ago... its almost like a fad thats just tappering off.

RM3,

What you're saying makes sense. It just sucks. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I wish the folks at Heliproz all the best.

sucks yes... but the hobby itself will not die completely.

I'm sure that the team at HeliProz saw the warning signs long ago. the retail sales guys will probably move to another retail sales job and the owner will go play golf in FL...

I'm more than sure other stores will likely close this comming year. you can tell which ones are headed that way by watching thier inventory.

just the way things are nowadays.

1. The birds are coming out of the box with ALL the hop ups. This is a double negative experience, the price point is way up their. Secondly, you have removed the ability for the guys to tinker and upgrade at leisure. Remember when the Thunder Tiger Craptor was released in the mid 90's, first hoover and parts would break!!!!!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm think about it, the dynamics of this issue is very complex my comment is just a primer, however its core to the problem.
