My experience with Heli proz was their shipping. It would take them a week to get any thing I ordered from them because they used UPS, and UPS in my personal experience is like sending it by pony express. All of the other shops that I dealt with get my order to me in three days at the latest. From where they shipped from up in Montana the packages would sit on a dock for three days before they would start their trip.

I think it had more to do with being in rural Montana. With such a low population density where people are spread out, every form of shipping is rather slow. The upside is there was no sales tax for the vast majority of customers in the US.

Living in Florida where many of the online shops are, we get hit with sales tax too frequently. When Mikado USA and formerly Readyheli had a 10% off sale on Logos, that just meant those of us in Florida got around 2.5% off accounting for sales tax. I have held off buying a Logo Xxtreme 480 for this reason. It just pisses me off. Seems like, with Florida being the 3rd most populous state in the nation, these hobby shops should move elsewhere.

Maybe YOU should move instead!
Get away from all of those taxes...bugs, heat, etc.

7.5% tax rate! I wish it was that low here we pay 13% on everything not just sales but labour too.

It might be worth moving to Florida and having to endure all that heat in the winter.

You may be on to something there Chet! We're looking for somewhere new after retirement. But for the retailer, the sales tax becomes a disincentive to a large segment of the RC community. I'd be curious to know where Florida ranks state wise in terms of number of RC enthusiasts.

Well, once our health care system becomes completely public like Canada's, I'm sure our taxes will be higher.

The winters may be nice - at least in north Florida, it stays too warm all year in south Florida for me - but the summers are torturous with the combination of heat and humidity.

Probably somewhat higher, but we are already paying for the health care of the less fortunate (being politically correct here)...one way or the other.

North Florida got it, I just might move I'm sick & tired of winter here.

We call the HST, Harper's Stolen Taxes
anything you pay for get's taxed. With what's left of your paycheck which is also taxed heavily plus all the other deductions.

Might be the reason why our underground economy is thriving!

hmm how to dress for -35C

a pair of wool socks overtop the usual socks
long underwear + jogging pants + jeans over top + snow/ski pants
t shirt + long sleeve shirt + hoodie + winter parka
sportsman winter gloves.
balaclava for the face. it helps if the clothing fit a bit loose.
about 10 lbs of clothing to keep warm

It's kinda of funny to see everyone dressed for a north pole expedition
