Futaba GY401 why so inexpensive on Ebay and Amazon ??
I just got a new Shuttle Plus 2+. I need to get together all the radio equipment and I started looking for a gyro. Searched Amazon and Ebay for the Futabs GY401 and it shows up for $35 to $40 new without a servo.

This seems really really cheap.

They're over $100 from any hobby specific online shops.

I've been out of the hobby for a while, are these clones for sale? How can I tell if it's genuine?

Here is way to tell, information is from Futaba.

http://www.futaba-rc.com/techsupport/counterfeit.html

They may be real, most people are flying flybarless heli's making the demand for single tail gyros very low.

In addition there have been many newer tail gyros that have come out since the GY401

a few years ago the scammers were making the rounds, putting a cheap chinese board in, and hot gluing a nut inside to simulate the weight of a real 401.

https://rc.runryder.com/t681594p1/

and, like stated above...a lot of people are moving to FBL which has tail gyro built in. no need for a separate tail gyro for most.
if it ain't broke, break it.

Clones are running even cheaper than that. You can get the clone NIB for around $10. Just as others said, with FBL, not much need for 401's anymore. Same is/will happen with GY520's.Team Synergy/Rail, Team Scorpion, YS Engines, VelTye

With all the advancement in electronics it's hard to believe there is ANY market for the 401 or the clones but there seems to be. The clones really pulled the price down of the 401 and then flybarless really got rolling.
